American grandmaster Fabiano Caruana, who became a bronze medalist at the World Rapid Chess Championship held in Almaty, summed up the results of the tournament.

“The Rapid and Blitz World Championships are over! I brought home a solid bronze medal in rapid, but my blitz was too nervous, despite the good chances on the final day. Nevertheless, the tournament turned out to be very exciting, and we saw several high-class matches. Congratulations to Magnus on his double victory!” – Caruana wrote.

Recall that Magnus Carlsen won a hat-trick. He is a world champion in classical chess, rapid and blitz. The Norwegian repeated his achievement in 2014 and 2019, when he was also a champion in all types of chess.
