FIDE announced when the candidates’ chess tournaments will be held

The International Chess Federation has published information about the following tournaments of candidates among men and women.

Both qualifying tournaments will be held in April 2024, 8 people will compete in each competition, and the recommended prize fund is 750 thousand euros. The duration of the tournament will be 22 days, the regulations must be approved no later than July 1, 2023.

Recall that the 2022 candidates tournament was held in Madrid and was won by Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi, who thanks to this received the right to play a match for the world championship. After Magnus Carlsen refused to defend the title, his opponent was Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren, who took second place at the competition in Madrid.
