Goryachkina: all athletes have right to look for a place where they will feel better

Russian chess player Aleksandra Goryachkina gave a long interview to Sport-Express. In it, she spoke about her passion for football and figure skating, about her attitude to changing sports citizenship and more.

I have been in chess since the age of six. I came home from table tennis with a broken head. For me, any activity is traumatic. Should I do figure skating? When you start thinking about it – well, you are already old, where do you go? The last time I was skating at the rink, there were a lot of children. I almost hit someone with a blade. Knocked off all my knees! Better to watch from the side.

I used to watch football. But everything is speeding up. World Championships, Champions League final – I’ll see. There are no favorite teams – I don’t root for anyone now. I used to like Barcelona and Juventus.

I am loyal to the change of sports citizenship. I believe that sport is work. Here, all athletes have the right to look for a place where it will be better and more profitable for them. I don’t call these people traitors.
