Vladislav Artemiev is satisfied with the result at the Rapid World Championship

Russian grandmaster Vladislav Artemiev became the only participant of the Rapid World Championship who managed to win against Magnus Carlsen. Artemiev kept his chances for first place until the last round, but lost to Fabiano Caruana and took seventh place.

“In the decisive game I had a bad opening, and the opponent played hard. I got a difficult position, the opponent counted me, and everything is in the case – I lost naturally. Overall, I performed well. I won against Carlsen, however, he blundered, the position was equal. I am happy with my performance at the tournament, but there is a slight sediment, because I could have achieved more.

In the blitz tournament I will try to compete for a place in the top three, but at least I want to be in the top ten,” – Artemiev said.
