24:19 Quick question. Queen b7 is still a good move right? If knight c2, king d2, knight has to take or move, let's say knight takes rook. Now white can play knight e4 and win the queen right? Black's knight is also trapped. If the black's knight doesn't move after c2 white still plays knight e4.
I was sad he dismissed Nb5 when he first started trying to finish the fried liver game. It gets taken by the pawn on c6, but the Rc1# and the only way black can avoid forced mate right away is to sacrifice the queen on C6.
Did I just hear you say you've played 500,000 games of chess? O_o;
its all about the opening
king gotham
the rook
As someone with a similar rating, I appreciate this video so much. I enjoy your other videos but a lot of them are just way over my head at this time.
Great video, but i realised im truelly hardstuck while watching this. As a 2000 rated player once told me, i dont play anything like a level 700. Still cant get out of it
what the fuck is TierZoo
Two days ago I watched my first chess video. I am now so deep down this rabbit hole I don't believe I'm getting out. If anyone sees my family or friends tell them I love them, and I tried.
32:52 Levys eyes lmfao
38:00 and some change, push rook, then kna4. Never discussed this move, but would have been mate earlier. I mean, understand going the full mile with the lesson, but it you can mate faster, why not?
31:57
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.
This was great to follow. Sub scrib ed
19:16 can someone say why knight to e4 is bad? Is it bad? That was my instinct but I'm terrible (around 400)
This actually helped me alot with my thought process, thank you!
I loved that "you have to not check me until checkmate" rule at the end, because it leads you towards discovering the "knights distance" (idk what it's actually called) naturally.
46:43 would rook to d1 also be valid?
What a hype man
If at all possible (and it may be impossible since you have so many videos), it would be really fantastic if the various chess lesson videos you have could be organized into a playlist. They don't all have consistent titles and they can be a little hard to find. For example, this video is named "1 hour Beginner Chess Lesson with TierZoo", but then the next lesson with Tierzoo is named "Teaching TierZoo #2: Easy Openings for Black". These types of videos are excellent educational material so I think it would be beneficial to organize them into a playlist so that everyone can easily find them all. I understand though if time does not permit that sort of thing. Thanks for the informational content!
Great video! Subscribe for sure.
0:51:53 — white queen D8 ?
Dude I need a lesson like this
I'm about on par with the beginner, I think he'd still beat me if we had stringent time issues.
This was really enjoyable as a beginner. It allowed me to understand some basic concepts of chess that i didn't take into account while playing. Educational yet entertaining 👍
Thank you so much for this lesson I definitely learned a few things!
How is this dude 800?
8:10 Would Qh5+ be a good move?
the absolute look of pride on Levy's face is what im here for. you did a much better job teaching him the fried liver than when i taught my 800ish level friend the fried liver, but now he plays the scotch anyways and is climbing to 1000 pretty steadily so he figured it out
These lessons are so helpful for beginners
wow! just wow! amazing teacher!
Great content. My favorite chess YTer.
16:00
well, he said that like 3 minutes before
I need to be a better teacher. Patience
I don’t know if anyone will see this but what’s with knight d5 at position in 26:30 of the vid? And at 51:30 what’s with queen to d8 than rook c5 than queen c7 or c8 and than queen b7 is that good? (I just started playing chess and your vids are helping a lot thx)
As a noob this is the only guy who makes chess easy to understand, he understands our noob brains 😂
You're great
More of these
45:42 "Nf6+ is obviously bad". Is it though? You give a check, black captures knight with knight, and now white queen can take the pawn on b7 forking the night and the rook. If black doesn't capture the knight but instead moves the king, white can then capture the knight relieving the c2 pressure, and then again have the Queen take on b7.

Queen takes free pawn, knight forks king and rook, knight forks king and QUEEN.
Levi x TierZoo I'm dying XD XD XD
Thank you for this video, it was really enlightening! 👌
Offtopic: what glasses do you have? They look good haha
What execuse Swatch! Trick or Treat.
You're so good at what you do and wanted to say thanks
I learned plenty on this episode.
lol strongest 800 you've ever seen. the issue isn't so much seeing it when things are slowed down but when the clock is ticking down and you gotta make a move that's when it gets tough. i'm saying this as a fellow sub 1k. i got to 1k for like a minute before i lost 3 rounds in a row
Something to watch when you're baked
Gotham just seem like such a nice guy.. somebody I’d really like to know in person
