12-Year-Old Chess Prodigy Thought I’d Be Easy…
11.04.2023
Whilst in New York City I played 12-year-old chess master Tani, who has beaten people such as Hikaru, Gothamchess and Botez. He is a Fide Master right now but has the strength of a much higher rated player. Read about Tani’s story here: Hope you enjoy this video!

It’s so racist that he played with black pieces.. 🫨🫨🫨 cancel Anna 🫣🫢
One of the most important lessons in life … the sooner you learn there’s always someone better/bigger/stronger/etc. than you, the better 👍
It feels like Beth Harmon v Girev
You had lots of better moves Anna
The kid seems like he’s having fun and he’s humble. I like it
That young man is a baller. Great game.
2:40, why didn't she take the pawn?
Fantastic! I've never heard the basic thinking of chess players spelled out so clearly – "this is theory," "this is tactics," etc.
I actually just fully realized what chess theory is, and why Bobby Fischer was so upset about it.
I like the young guy…he's got moxy
i’ve played at that table
Why did the eval bar shoot up so much at Black's queen D6 move (2min 40)?
this kid is has such good energy. these two are so wholesome 🙂
Not very good performance… maybe cause of talking?
@6:40 3 moves to checkmate if played right.
Can you go slower for us noobs 😂
That's 100% right, you were too easy.
Anna be like no no no this cant be happening
It was easy.😂
One day this kid will be hokage. Believe it!
These two give me hope for the next generation.
gm indeed
1:33 I assume they're not using the touch-move rule in these casual games.
Love this video ❤
Anna thank you for bringing this video, between you and other Chess influencers I feel Chess is making a comeback. This young man I'm sorry he's still a child, is the future of Chess, we are in good hands.
This interaction is so beautiful to watch! Not a chess player so, beyond positions, I don't understand what they're saying; it sounds like a different language(!) but Anna and Tani's minds are whizzing along in the most mesmerizing way! It is a privilege to watch such higher brain power at work! And they are both so lovely!
best move in 02:44 is knight takes D5?
tani blunderd at 2:46
This is beautiful to me 😊
Intersting she doesn’t want to shake hands with a black kid
Great kid. I hope all his dreams come true!😊
He is great.
I love chess but I’m a one month old baby playing against immortals that’s played thousands of years, watching you all play chess, there was so many times I was like there’s so many pieces that you all could have taken, but you all just done, and I’m like WHY? then at the end I’m like oooook.
Chess is fine. More of a Mario Cart guy, myself.
This kid is going places. Not many 12 year olds beat can beat Anna easily and know words like compensation.
Definitely not 💩
WP 14 👌🙏👌
Well , apparantly I'm stupid, because I don't know who won.
oh, he beat u twice 🤣
I love how Anna is not afraid to post videos where she doesn't win!
He did his thing
Wow… I had to watch the last minute in 0.25 times the speed to follow what was going on…
Did she lose on purpose?
GJ young man! I look forward to seeing you in the future… See you at the TOP 👍
Why is black on top on the screen?
Beginner question here.
If your hair touch the piece don't you have to move it?
Have a great day. 🎉
Maybe a grandthefter be more like it.🤣
What a beautiful match 🥰
she great for her hair
hes mite to nice for the big time
cool that she's showing him her mind, helping him get even better. and vise versa! They're helping each other learn. very cool.
Moments not years away from being a great.
Knight d5 was the best move. Strange she didn’t see it
