I think there should be a "meta-chess," where the board size and pieces are randomized. For example, one variation could be on a ten-by-ten board, with one piece pair that moves like a bishop, but is limited to a two square distance (or three, etc), a pair of "knight's," that moves 2 over and three up, a piece that combines the rook and knight, etc. And Hikaru and Magnus etc. would still dominate but patzers like me would enjoy playing against people of our level without having to worry about some computer or variation sniper.

Any games with a set of rules that never gets updated can be figured out by a math, it's that simple. The skill in all games is people who can innovate and come up with new strategies but if the game is already figured out, there's no fun to it, it's just a sim bot you're running in your own head.
I think he's both right and wrong. Long chess WC should include FR, but wrt computers, I think things like pre-moves in fast games has done a lot more for chess. I think that can be built on with longer games as well.
Tbh checkers is superior to chess😂 you cannot grab 20 random people and tell them to play chess against eachother but yet you tell those same 20 people to play checkers and then you'll all have a good time 😂😂
Creativity works far better in games that aren’t limited by known strategy comps. I’ve noticed creative strategies work the best against expert players but will get crushed by a easy mode computer 😂
This is exactly what I said when I presented one of my projects for machine learning and AI, I said in games like chess where there is no creativity just recognition of patterns with finite scenarios a human can never beat a machine

tbh thats exactly why I stopped playing chess, it was so fun to play when I was on lower levels but when you get to 1000 rating its just memory
