You are on to something, Anna. A long story short, I've been programming since the late 1960s, and by then we didn't have the massive computers we have today, so when I wrote my first chess program, well, let's say I was somewhat restricted.
I immediately discovered that the part of evaluating the board, relying on the pawn 1, knight and bishop 2,5 and so on was a waste of computer power. I already had the possible moves, that reflect the board more accurately. A blocked tower is worth less than an open bishop, and so on.
So, the first move can be only one of 20, and the consecutive move too. Ergo, only 400 possible openings ever. From theron, with modern computers, I've been able to rank every 400 possible openings, and your Ferdinand opening comes in as number six! At a massive 68%, it's a clear winner. Congrats, Anna!
@annacramling!! I just tried the Cow for fun and I won my first game! hahah. Then I won my 2nd, and my 3rd! Im now 5-1 playing it!. Thats crazy… Yep, people get confused and don't know what to do…
The cow game moves fast and you then have all active pieces which catches your opponent by surprise. Getting Rooks stuck out of play is very bad.Personally I like grouping bishops together and knights together and get my rooks and queen in line and on the best side to get the king. The longer a game goes on the worse it is for me being only a beginner. Nice though Anna, keep up the good work.
