This was WAY more entertaining than I expected it to be:
Kudos to both players for keeping it so interesting until the time had run out
(in the case of GM Howell who nevertheless kept it competitive throughout)

Can someone ask to him about the match between Karpov? This match is impossible to find on the Internet!

This looks harder than blindfold. At least in blindfold the pieces in your head are the actual pieces and that's all you got, but thinking of the pieces and looking at all these discs gotta be confusing.

This should be how some chess event games should be played, so no one can deny that chess is an official sport. It is stand up chess, both good exercise and funny for the audience.

I think it would be cool if they played a game like this but with a previously setup middlegame position and only David knows where all the pieces are. That way Magnus has to figure out which piece is which and it would make for a very interesting game.

He's never losing the way lmao. He can literally play blindfolded with multiple opponents at once. You think something like this can confuse him?

Anyone notcie that the clock is on the wrong side?

So it's blindfloded with knowing the position of the pieces.

Am I the only one who didn’t pay attention to the game because I was writing comments?

such a dumb ad, both of them could easily play blindfolded.

That is so cool respect to the players for remembering it for some time I would’ve lost track on move 3 😂

I mean he can literally play blindfolded. Even 1800s like me can play chess like this (not win)

7th like and 2nd comment btw I haven’t seen the vid but im sure magnus wins

Woulda made more sense if you went further and made all of the pieces a golden puck, if they were all 1 color and not 2 it might trip him up then.

Having to memorize all pieces and tactics, playing fast with a big chess board and a timer kinda far away from u
    ,I'd say I'd shit myself

Audiance be like , yeah that was a crazy match We loved the coffee too

I fast forwarded to see the end game and now I don't know what's going on

Should have set up an equal position beforehand and not told him which pieces are which, forcing him to learn what the pieces are based off of the movement his opponent makes and what movements he attempts to make that he is told are legal or not.

That is what I expected the video to be, at least. I was disappointed to see it was blindfolded chess but easier.

Why was Magnus’ Qb7+ move considered a blunder (??) by the algorithm at 2:28?

Why does it need to be a giant board? It adds a component that we don't need. The question is if he can win without knowing the pieces, but size adds an extra difficulty that makes it harder to see his real performance in the target situation

howell running back and forth at the end as fast as he could was probably the best part

    by 2 secondssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

How can he know the first legal move of each piece if he doesn't know them? He must know the pieces and that this is say traditional chess and not 960.

if aliens challenge humans to a game of chess, magnus is the only hope of representing humans

"we will definitely lose our way somewhere along the lines" speek for yourself you goofball. Your opponent can play several games blidfolded all simultaneously and still maintain an incredible high level of accuracy in each game

Th puma jumpers and sweatshirts really made a difference.

Guy can play drunk & blind, I'm pretty sure this is a non-issue

Why didnt he sacrificed the queen and then killed the rook with the pawn converting it to a queen and then its checkmate at 4:01

the run for the clock in such strict time controls makes it way harder. you gotta think on your feet and have a decent stamina.
