Magnus stands on a position where he can play only for the fun… he definitively was not worried about win the tournament

Is Magnus trying to look like the dude from the Big Lebowski?

My patience has left the chat and Anxiety was in the chat lol😮😮😮😮

It is like what many GMs say, magnus can squeeze water from stone.

This is a horrible title Magnus didn’t force spectators to do anything, a more appropriate title would be: Spectators applaud Magnus Carlsen while he holds on to a draw in the final seconds.

2:04 why did she say "white has try hard to lose this"? isn't Magnus in worse position?

I would've blundered my rook under the pressure

Based on the title I thought white was playing for a win here. Protecting b4 seemed like a sure way to hold the draw quite easily.

Why didn't take Duda the pawn with the bishop at 1:06 min?

notice how magnus played the ending beautifully. He first chased away the king from the pawn and then the bishop from the c1-h6 diagonal. And only then he attacked the pawn. (if he didn't force the bishop away, Black could have played e3 if white played Re8)

I'd really like to see a chess time control that is time-per-move, increasing and decreasing as the game progresses. e.g moves 1-5 = 5 seconds a move; 6-10 = 10 seconds; 11-20 = 20 seconds, 21-40 = 40 seconds; 41-50 = 20 seconds, 41-60 = 10 seconds, 60+ = 5 seconds. They get a little more time in the middle game, but the openings (which are usually in book) and the endgame are more frenetic. Would make most games end like this one, with players racing to get moves out against the clock.

Maybe 1 out of the 30 moves Magnus made I would have done the same.

Hopeless position. I would lose this with white and black!

I don't understand I'm a stupid woman Patty so stupid.

Audience was clapping because this game clinched tournament victory for Magnus, not necessarily because of his play in this particular endgame (although that was obviously impressive too).

Magnus blundered by playing b4. Duda could win the pawn by playing Rxb4.

Duda's right hand has a shorter distance to the clock than Magnus' right hand has, so definitely a time advantage for Duda.

Comments like “white has to try hard to lose this” really makes me want to see her play as white against Duda with 10 seconds on the clock in that position.

can someone explain why was it a draw? newbie here. thanks

I would have blundered at least 69 times there

Commentators thought it was Duda that deserved applause, but Magnus' position seemed more difficult to play

This might blow your mind but I have a secret over the board strategy players can use in low time situation
If you look 3:34 Magnus stretches his arm then press the clock ; that arm stretch is costing too much time ; instead you may be able to play waiting moves closes to your side of the board to hit the timer with the other hand no

CARLSEN JUST KNEW DUDO'S BRAIN WUD MAKE MISTAKE IF HE PUSH HIM FAR ENOUGH .AS HE GUESSED DUDA' BRAIN DID….JUST DECODE HOW UR OPPONENT BRAIN WORKS TATS IT…-LOVE FROM INDIA

This is drawish even magnus got the pawn.. its just about time control and have the energy

Camptown ladies sing this song, Duda, Duda.

When I watch Carlson play, I hear a slow whispering chant in the background.
    "always be closing"

magnus the only one who can turn a bullet games into 8 min of content

Why is this a draw? Each player still has enough material to win.
