Chess is basically a puzzle game. That's why positioning is so important
I think a good rule for a chess 2.0 is a king can move through a defended square if the piece defending it is pinned, example let's say your bishop is pinned to your king but is also attacking a square next to the opposing king. Normally the opposing king could not move through this square, however it would be able to, and unpinning your piece would give a check.
