    "Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiill go wrong". Brilliant.

The only thing as good as 80s music, is the 80s hair styles…loving the look Elaine!

This song would have been a good theme for a mid 80s James Bond film

everybody's playing the game but nobody's rules are the same pretty much sums it up.

So much hot mid 80s upper class artsy urban mom energy. I'd be tripping over myself to get a date with Paige in '85. So much 80s in her aesthetics, even her hair evokes the nuclear war fears we had what with that doo being in the shape of a mushroom cloud.

I fell in love with this production 40 years ago, and I always come back to it, in part or its entirety.

A discussion on a progressive rock forum brought me here, nuff said. Catchy but sophisticated song.

Elain and Barbera' hit song was more melodic than this, but this song for me is a Tour De Force of a song.

I played Florence years ago in a local production and this was my very favorite song to sing out of the entire show (I know him so well a very close 2nd). Elaine was perfection and this video gives chills all these years later!

Imagine if it was sang by Frida and Agnetha

Everything you ever needed to know about human relationships is contained in Tim Rice and Sondheim lyrics.

Öppna alla dörrar på glänt in swedish

This track is absolutely timeless and superb. Lyrics, melody and production at there very best!

Easy to know that it's Benny and Bjorn melodies

Outside Abba this is the greatest music Björn and Benny ever wrote!
    The Singers also phantastic!

Love the hair. Love the voice. Elaine Paige simply wonderful.

It's remarkable how the melody and instrumentation of this song are so upbeat, but the lyrics are so bitter.

I was doing Nobody's Side with Elaine Paige, Julia Murney, Dolly Parton, Paige O'Hara, Judy Kuhn, Jodi Benson, Susan Egan, Idina Menzel, and Lea Salonga.

What bothers me is the fact that there's videos for this, "the arbiter" and "one night in Bangkok" but no other footage from the production, it makes me think there's more unreleased footage from this version of the musical

Chess is a great musical about an American Agent and Russian Agent falling in love amidst their respective countries Cold War using the world as global chessboard. Both realising the absurdity of the Cold War. When U.S. and Russia should be friends and strong allies working for global peace. Great message from the Musical one of the best of the 1980s.

Chess: Gay Pride stepped on straight love.

Why am i only discovering this now??????? Recently seen Chess the musical locally and now i am hooked!

and the winner of the ultimate 80s hair goes to… Ms Elaine Paige

I always thought Chess was brilliant. I still do.

A masterpiece from both: the autors and the singer! Also today a best performance! Like it so much!

She's taken shit for 7 years and she won't take it any more!

Has anyone heard Samantha barks sing this !! She’s amazing !!!

Was lucky enough to catch the original run in '86.
    Still goosebumps.

I love Elaine Paige she's so awesome.

The verses sounded a lot like "Under Attack"

This song sounds incredible, such an ABBA tune and wished they'd released it, it would so have pride of place in any works they'd have released in the 80s. Mind you, just received the "Chess Pieces" CD-and what the FUCK! The version on there is NOT this one, which is entirely superior, yet the time of the song pretended it was but that version started with choruses and dropped the entire 2nd part of the 1st verse! Think I'll send the CD back-how DO they make these mistakes! Just leave the right version alone, people!

Of course you're right, it's got ABBA's stamp all over many of the songs, like this one. That "Mamma Mia" musical is a joke, and the film's insulting garbage. Just one thing-where DID this version come from as it's not listed for the soundtrack album in this way: instead there's a 5:25 version which Paige sings with, I presume, Murray Head, so is is a duet? And if so, WHERE is this one from?

This song should have been sung by Agnetha and Frida if you know what I mean!

elaines hand waving during the chorus keep me going

Being an 80s kid I'm happy I stumbled upon this.
