Honestly… I did wish Nepo would have lost, just to make it even more interesting with a 5-way tie. But it's super exciting stuff. I'm pretty sure the candidates will be way more exciting than the actual world championship. I respect Ding Liren, but I expect him to feel an insane amount of pressure. So, any player ending up on top here, will have a higher than usual chance of becoming the next world champion. I also think Nepo is probably still the favourite to win the candidates. I would be shocked if Gukesh wins. I would be less shocked if Fabiano won. And it would be insane for the memes if Hikaru manages to win. But his chances are probably not high. It depends on whether or not anything exotic he plays pays off bigtime.
