I'm no expert but from what I have read. The game is designed to be fair neutral with no advantage to either side white has a slight advantage over black simply because white moves first white is said to have the initiative to demonstrate what this means set up two White rooks to Black rooks forming a battery on the same file on an open board the side to move first has the advantage or initiative so white is offense and black is defense from the start of the game black is one step or move behind White black gains the initiative when white makes passive or non-threatening moves that do not require a particular response chess is some 2,000 years old originated in India the rules for the movement of the pieces have changed over time it used to be that pawns only moved one square at a time that rule was revised to speed up the game so a pawn can move to squares on the first move somebody don't know who decided that it was an unfair advantage in the end game for a pawn to move to squares since pawn promotion is a crucial Factor in the end game so they came up with on Passat in passing pawn rule so if you have a pawn 5 squares or rows ranks up and your opponent has a pawn on its original start square on an adjacent file and tries to use the two move rule to sneak past your pawn creating a past pawn you have the option to take that pawn as if it only moved one square

Do you have to use a specific and named opening to win over a long period?

I cry bc i could win even begginner player i could't win it so pls teach me a lesson

man, you wanna make me forget chess so i can learn it again.

Now I'm pretty new to chess, but I always thought Gotham was based on Chicago, not New York

after so many years and i don't still feel safe Levy

oh this was so helpful, i immediately booted up my chess app and felt so much more in control of the board because of the principles here. then my finger slipped and I lost my queen and had to ragequit but the second the red mist fades I am so keen to try again

When I was a kid, my parents got me a CD Rom chess adventure game called Majestic Chess. I still can't beat one of the puzzles on level two. It talks about using forks to capture the enemy's queen, but I haven't beat it in over 20 years and I've basically given up. I would say "what am I missing" but you'd need to see the puzzle I guess.

I enjoy playing, but I feel my games always end in one mistake from me or my opponent and then a slow grinding down, it's fun but frustrating at the same time. I wish I could play just one game where me and my opponent both play perfectly and there's a winner

As a kid I was like “no thanks I’ll stick with checkers” but now I really want to learn.

Pov youre good at chess but you watch the full video for no reasonxd

Why do I always do phsycological traps on a robot opponent…

I've just turned 22, never played Chess before, wanted to learn – obviously not aiming for highest levels, not exactly possible at this age + the amount of work and study involved. I'd love to get above 1k and just see how far I can get, just to learn some proper openings and defences would be cool. I don't even know how to properly checkmate yet lmao

I've been playing chess since I was a kid, going to lessons, some tournaments etc. Then I quit for about 10-15 years. Then COVID and Queen's Gambit came out and I got back into it. After having played a match here and there, and not really getting anywhere, I started following your video's & strategies and really "learning" to think in chess. I just got to 1004 rating in 10 minute games!! Up from around 580. Insane, I'm so happy! Thank you so much!

Chess has always seemed like such an alien game to me but this video has made me realise that it's basically the same as a tile based video game, which I've been playing for my whole life

Is there any reason you would promote a pawn to anything other than a queen?

When dod they changed point Values ?

I should've taken chess seriously years ago and seeked this advice when starting out. Now I've spammed hundreds and hundreds of games without having the tools to improve, only causing frustration.

This is a mistake I will not repeat

Dude, You look like Joshua Weissman if he was a chess mater instead of a chef

This guy seems like the type of person to buy a top tier gaming setup just for…chess

Why are u sending me h&m adds? I thought they ditched “Justin beiber”! Just saying ! Who îs Who ?

Who’s here after watching the queen’s Gambit

I played Chess for 5 years and I can’t believe I’m still a beginner. I’ve learned a lot of helpful things. This Tutorial has changed my tactics! Thank you so much.

I'm watching his first video, and I'm already his fan 😅😂

isnt bishop takes pawn and bishop takes bishop 3 for 1?

I think I am exceptionally bad at chess like I know what all the pieces do but i cant seem to figure out anything like advantage bar will be completely mine and im like but there is no good moves? I have lost many times to martin which is apparently hard

    Thank you.
    Very good video indeed.
As a beginner it helped me a lot and pointed me in the right direction.

Hey I am a beginner at chess, how many offense and defensive moves are there at chess?

this was very well made im starting to understand. thanks so much

im confused. im a beginner and i play online but i dont know what im doing. i know how pieces move but it's thinking ahead i have trouble with. i looked at the Ruy Lopez opening, all it is is 5 moves, what do i play after i've moved e bishop? Is there a better opening where more pieces can be put in the center of the board?

The checkmate called 'In your face' is my favorite

my dad tried to teach me when I was a kid, i just started to take interest in chess now in college and I'll be forever grateful for this video!

Wow, I have been a checkers player for years, but chess is like checkers on steroids what are some of theses rules bro 😂

Very helpful vid, i have watched it 4 times today and i think im getting this chess game finaly, never played in my life so i have a long way to go👌

Just gotta board for Xmas! This is great thank you.
