The Chess World Cup 2023 is a 206-player single-elimination chess tournament that will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 30 July to 24 August 2023.[1] It will be the 10th edition of the Chess World Cup. The top three finishers in the tournament will qualify for the 2024 Candidates Tournament.[2][3]
The tournament will be held in parallel with the Women’s Chess World Cup 2023.

Why did Prag did not check Cxd2 + vs. Qf6? Looks like he lost a tempo and a free pawn ?
from the opening we were sure it would be exciting, but entering the middle we knew it was headed for a draw..
After 3:48 is why bg4 from black side is not played as it leads to the variation where magnus have isolated pawn which can be easily targeted
Magnus really enjoys playing with prag, these 2 games feel like legend nurturing future legends…
Pre-match expectation before watching: draw
Carlsen had 'food poisoning' in the same ways as every NBA or NFL player has 'the flu'. If you had 'food poisoning', you're not at the board, you're getting an ab workout.
I can understand Magnus, classical chess is boring as hell to watch, must be boring to play as well.
Lets just all move to rapid and blitz.

Magnus is so good he was able to choose an opening that he knew he'd draw by leading Pragg through every step. And Pragg is such a gentleman that he agreed to playing it out knowing exactly what Magnus was offering him. Very classy game from both of them. Good show gentlemen.

Pragg will play many future games of rapid with Nodirbek. Carlsen will have a hard time deciding who to root for. I am sorry but the OG wont be able to take especially Nodirbek on at rapid when he is 40 years old.

Magnus can’t blame food poisoning. Health is his responsibility.
Glad it didn't end under the circumstances, would have been a lousy way to win with an asterisk. In theory it could still flip the match outcome from what it would have been in another universe, but at least it will feel the same.
To be honest second game was not of level expected at this stage… Exchanging pieces in this way would definitely lead to a draw..

Just for clarity, when there are 4 bishops on the board they don’t have “2 bishop pairs each”. There are “2 bishop pairs,” or they have “1 bishop pair each”. Love you agadmator!
