But why are the women’s chess separate from the men’s chess ??? Also levy is very quick to skim over the women’s rounds. What’s going on?? Yea I can google it. I want an opinion other than google

For Nepo, Caruana is the biggest threat to candidate title race. Instead of risking a loss to him, it makes sense why he would go for a draw and try win the candidates by outperforming against other guys.

So the indian guy won? I don't get it. For beginners professional chess is one thing to understand – to understand the commentators and what they try to show you is another thing. Combined I get serious headaches. Going back and forth to show something is necessary – if there is a way to show the explanation moves more clearly to differantiate from the real move pls do it for noobs like me ♥ started with chess 5 weeks ago. We desperately need a chess player in the running, or even better, a world champ who channels the Morphy or Prince Dadian vibes. I mean, sure, there's some tactics sprinkled in there, but let's be real, most of the time it's like watching a staring contest, almost boring, but not quite just rearranging pieces and not unleashing a savage attack like those old-school chess legends.

Honestly i don't like how nepo plays. He is an amazing player and has reached candidate 2 times but its no fun to watch his game. He takes no risks and i have never seen him outplay someone based on his own prep. Someone else takes a risk and nepo takes advantage of it and then comfortably sits at the top of the whole competition.
Yep, Indians have their last names first. So it would be Gujrati Vidit. But people don't care for either way, because most of the urban population do an english based job making their name last names last, to sound professional.

As far as i know, the surname usually goes first. Ive spent 10 years in India, and the most confusing part was the surname,First name, middle name way your name is said as opposed to First name middle name last name.

I know with Praggnanandhaa, that's his given name, his family name is Rameshbabu (as evidenced by his sister having the name Rameshbabu as well). However India is something of a mix of cultures and it's possible it's not consistent between different parts of India.

Can someone explain to me the time control rules? Do the players just agree on them prior to every game or wth? Like tournament rules are tournament rules, how can you not follow them? (I am not into chess world that much)
