How many of you us listen with our eyes and learn nothing with our brain when listening to Hikaru teach this?
One time you would not want to capture towards the center from the H file is if the H file is already partially open (bye bye room). May seem obvious, but just goes to show there is no "always".

I had a question about capture towards the center with pawns.. say if there was a knight on g3 and your king is castled but the f file would be an open file without your pawn there.. is it then maybe worth it to capture with the f pawn? Or what are the circumstances you should capture this way?
My lesson I'm taking from this is take towards the center.

I only play the London system and the Scandinavian defense and all the openings that derive from them. I can say that after thousands of games I only see chess from this angle, I don't like e4. more cautious on white and aggressive on black. I believe that the secret of evolution in chess for any player is to play the same opening for both white and black without affecting the pawn structure that he proposed

I came to learn what even counts as the london opening, the different variations explained. Instead, it's a review of a specific game with a few seconds spent on the opening and everything rushed along speaking super fast. I'm sure it's a great video but change the title maybe?
London is one of openings that I actually know and I use it 80% of time

imagine getting a personalized review of your game from Hikaru Nakamura.. just the fact that in rapid im close to the rating of the players being reviewed, and being a fan of the london as well.. and finally understanding something in chess opening reviews.. makes me happy.
