Magnus v Hikaru is the chess world's Warriors vs Cavs

Just learned to play this week and I'm absolutely hooked! Can't stop playing on my phone and binge watching chess videos.

Bro fr celebrated with a mcdonalds ice cream after beating KASPAROV

Honestly I am just so happy that we get to have footage of him as a child, we get to hear the voice of MC, and see him as a dreamer and now he has achieved so much. He's like the very first prodigy I've seen that live up to the expactations and didn't let the pressure eat him unlike other prodigies that just fade into obscurity.

Did he just compare Magnus Carlsen to Eli Manning? 😂

Unreal, and a pleasure to watch!! He's so lucky to have a dad like that.

Hikaru nooo!! lol. Both great players!

He's never beaten me so I must be the GOAT lol… JK he's truly the best and more.

Salute for his great father. most often that greatest comes from great parents.

I truly enjoyed this piece. Watched it twice. But sadly, the references to Mozart, Beethoven, DaVinci (and more like it) are far away from truth. I understand why they do it. But they aren't even close.

10:15 What a moment. For me it was one of the best scenes of the documentary.
Reporter: "When you travel with Magnus, what is your role?"
    Father Carlsen: "I am a servant . . . and chess fan."
OMG. It is a honor for both father and son.

I played Magnus in a simul on ICC (my userid is trivialpursuit) back when he was a teenager. It was a madhouse as everyone wanted to be one of the 20 some opponents against him. I managed to sneak in. Magnus had me on the ropes most of the game. Then in a stroke of luck, I managed to skewer his K+Q winning his Q. I'm never playing him again! I watched him play several times in St Louis before Covid hit.

8:14 that Kasparovs last glance and a kid lol. He probably knew it back then what this kid will be.

I love his father's writers, painters, and chess players analogy.

The part I enjoyed the most was how good his dad is at explaining how it is to help his son with everything. It probably takes everything the man has but it must also feel pretty good to be responsible for letting this genius flourish!

Hes one of those ancient psychic neardentals thats it …..

Lmao loved the Nakamura feature, glad he’s living his best life as a chess streamer—his true calling, as he loves to say 😁

Edit: realized how sarcastic this sounds. I’m a genuine fan of Nakamura and I love watching replays of his streams. He’s hilarious

"one of the first Norwegians to excel in a sport that didn't involve snow"

Carlsen and Kasparov actually met following the match in which they drew and had a friendly conversation.

Dad made a great analogy comparing chess players to an artist or a writer. Perfect.

Why did the guy pick Eli Manning to compare him to?

Nah I like chess an all but there’s no way that anybody has said it is more brutal than boxing. It’s not a sport either. A sport requires physical extortion and chess does not show that

wild to compare him to Eli Manning lmfao

I hate pro chess. It’s too serious and competitive. I love to play chess with my friends but it’s actually fun in that sense this seems like a job. Hour long matches? A match for me takes about 10 minutes

bobby fischer was champ at a younger age and hade a iq around 180

Now he's known as the Magnus Carlsen of Chess.

"He hates to lose, so he doesn't."

    what a gangster line.

Is it just me or does it like Magnus hates this sport…

When talent get recognised in early days..
I wonder if his sister never played chess.. We won't have Goat

2022 & stillllllllll the world champion. Gawd level….

9:22 talking about Magnus being described as lazy , after which footage showing of him sporting (football, Tennis). it's no secret that exercise enhances your brain functions, and the playfull element even more so keeping your energy fresh and brain in top shape.

But could he have beaten the greatest ? You know who.
