The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.
Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

#Please show a game of Harila Dronavali…
Ding has White pieces in game 12 and Game 14. Ding needs to shake Nepo’s confidence and win game 12. Nepo played blunder after blunder against Magnus in the World Chess Championship 2021. Magnus had him completely confused.
As of move 15, we have a completely new game.
As of move 21, the game is a dead draw
Somehow i feel sleepy watching this classical game today
No Marshall for you!!
Lol Soup Nazi anyone?
Ding is too conservative to become or deserve the title of WCC.
#suggestion how about the last game of Lasker and Schlecters world championship match? A fighting slav defense with a unique historical background as some believe schlecter had to win with a two point margin, while others dispute that claim, and lasker being down a point going into the round, so for both players only a win would do!
Never have a seen such a decisive capture fest.
Evans Gambit
I think ding is gonna go all in next game as its his 2nd last game with white and even if next 2 games are draw cant imagine what is game 14 gonna look like
Before the match I was liking Ding, because of the way Magnus dominated Nepo, and while Nepo was playing in events coming up to the match, Ding was not so I thought they were working hard on prep. I don't know enough about this rumor of the prep being leaked. After his strong win in Game 6 with the London, (even though Nepos team would be working on that) I felt he had to go back to that system with the white pieces, he did not in Games 8 and 10 and did not win. You can't win the WCC by drawing or losing with the white pieces. Yes maybe Nepo is being a little dangerous here drawing with the white pieces, but the pressure is on Ding to get a win.
i love the begining and the moves!
Is Magnus secretly helping Ian? He's been awfully quiet.
Seriously, how could any morally normal human being root for either commie in this match? Especially when the same old bullshit of spying and subterfuge arises. Has any russian in the history of competition ever been part of a square match where there wasn't some shadow of scumbaggery looming over his head? I don't think so.
The enture prep of ding has leaked , no wonder ian blizs all the moves ,
This match is so over
Please make a playlist of world championship matches yearwise🙏
another snoozefest
Will this tournament have another exciting game before it’s all said and done seems the players agreed rather quickly to a tie in this one content it wasn’t a loss
This is why Bobby Fischer wanted a match the first to ten wins. This format makes for boring chess.
Can put an evaluation bar up like other channels. It really helps us learn and evaluate.
And as Agad finished mentionng who had it against whom, the game decided to be drawn 😂
Nepo has won. Ding is not as strong as Nepo when it comes to classical chess. Nepo just needs to draw and it's so easy for him
highlight of the game: Rook captures
This game made me miss Magnus.

@agadmator any update to their live ratings during the match?
They should have just did the repeating moves two more times, becomes a fivefold repetition which isn't a draw by agreement so it's automatically a draw regardless of that rule.
It's seems to me, and I'm barely a chess amateur, but by play and body language, Ling is the more dangerous, happy to draw with black and keep going. Ian on the other hand is probably more experienced but being pressed by Ling's white attacks. Time will tell all of course. As an amateur rooting for Ling, but I still feel whomever wins will still wonder inside if they are really the best…
This is a fourth draw by both players.😅
"Tomorrow is a rest day." Well, so was today, pretty much.
If you haven't shown it before Agadmator then John Nunn v Alexander Beliavsky from 1985 is a wonderful game to watch 👍🏻 #suggestion
When are we going to see you making the ceremonial first move, Antonio?
This match started ham but has petered out into draw fest
game 11, my gosh how many games do they have to play, 100?
disappointed.
this is not worthy game of chess.
Always give the fastest and most complete review of the game
#suggestion Svetozar Gligoric vs Pavle Bidev: "The Two Knight Show"
I hope Ding can turn this match around. In my local chess club there was a poll on whether Ding or Nepomniatchi would win the championship. Out of the people that guessed correctly, a person would be drawn to win a free chess book Almost everybody bet on Nepo, but I bet on Ding.
#suggestions Marshall vs Barnes
In a new location?
So many captures 😂
How many total games in WCC ?
This is game 11
How many more remaining ?
I hope Ian wins!

2nd comment: 2016 WCC – This is relevant to the 2023 WCC.
Please agad cover the other decisive game of the Sergey Karjakin vs Magnus Carlsen 2016 WCC (Game 10, where that TALENTLESS patzer won). #suggestion
What happened is that Magnus lost to Sergey AS WHITE in Game 8 but then compensated for a white loss with A WHITE WIN in Game 10. This is what happened to Ding Liren & Nepo for Games 2 & 4 of the 2023 WCC.
Fun fact for Game 8 – 'After the game Carlsen was visibly uncomfortable and left the press conference before it began, potentially incurring a fine of 5% of his prize money to the organizers Agon, and a further 5% to FIDE.[59] FIDE released a statement the following day indicating that the penalty would be imposed.[61] The fine was reduced on appeal to 5% of the prize money (2.5% to Agon and 2.5% to FIDE).[62]'
For Game 10: Wesley So has some interesting thoughts that DEFY STOCKFISH, as Wesley So did in 2021 St Louis Chess 9LX with the move that won the chessc*m 2021 move of the year award. (Wesley So thinks white 'still had an edge' even though the computer says black is slightly winning.)
Some maths:
Why doesn't a drawn match go to the player w/ more black wins (if any) s.t. Sergey Karjakin not Magnus Carlsen is 2016 WCC? Surely a black win is worth more than a white win. But you might argue 2 draws with black amounts to a win with black. Does it? No question about it in chess960, where there's no theory. In chess? Gestalt psychology says the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Other suggestions:
Women's chess
A – Was Kg6 in Dina's 1st GM slaying game in Reykjavik sexism? Like looking down on Dina?
B – Anna Cramling's dad beats Mikhail Tal. #suggestion
C – Philippine women's chess #suggestion – WGM Janelle Frayna, the female Wesley So, upset Georgian GM (really GM not just WGM) Bela Khotenashvili at the 2022 world blitz.
There's a 13-move UNDERPROMOTION puzzle here.

For some reason none of the Philippine channels except Kelvinllovejr even cover this game. LOL. But Janelle did cover the game where e drew against Nemo, so maybe Janelle will cover this game later on.
P.S. Please help get Wesley So on Lex Fridman's podcast. See

We've seen some outstanding games of chess at this world championship. Unfortunately, this isn't it. Zzz
GO NEPO! LOL LOOK AT DING LIREN'S STUPID LIST OF ROLE MODEL PLAYERS:
1 – Veselin Topalov – BASELESSLY accused Vladimir Kramnik of cheating
2 – Garry Kasparov – CHEATED Judit Polgar
3 – Magnus Carlsen – BOTH. BASELESSLY accused Hans Niemann & CHEATED Alireza Firouzja, Danya Naroditsky & Ian Nepomniachtchi
Why didn't Liren say
1 – Vladimir Kramnik
2 – Bobby Fischer
3 – Wesley So
?
– bad guys: magnus carlsen, garry kasparov, FIDE, veselin topalov, hikaru nakamura, ding liren, chess itself
– good guys: wesley so, bobby fischer, sergey karjakin, vladimir kramnik, hans niemann, ian nepomniachtchi, chess960 itself
#kings gambit
Can't Ding play the Sicilian Defence against e4? He needs to take Nepo out of his comfort zone.
Besides Ruy Lopez is known for simplifications and trades leading to a draw which doesn't favor Ding
