The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.

Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

When I was little my Friend told me that the Chinese give names to their children accordingly to the sound a Frying Pan makes when thrown down a hill, I believed it until I was 700 Elo Points

Always enjoying your chess coverage agimator

Leaking Ding’s preparation is a crime against chess.

At 8:17 after Nepo moved rook to e8, and ding King went to f7, why didn't Nepo moved his king to f3 to threatened capturing Ding's rook? I think if rooks were removed, won't it give Nepo advantage to have an additional pawn and 2 separate pawn pieces combination for their advance up the board?

#suggestion ,it would be great if you could put the evaluation bar for us to see it and to help viewers understand better the game

You always get the sense that Nepo can always keep Ding at arm's length.

Why would players need to check with the arbiitrer if it is "ok" ?
What options are there? Can he make them play the same moves another 5 times? Ban a player from making a legal move? This seems a bit silly to me. Maybe I am overlooking something?

@agadmator Please don't use 1080p60 as it makes fans spin up on thin laptops! Better to use regular 1080p like before. Plz reply if you see this. Thanks! 👍👍

15 "captures" in consecutive moves… Is that a record for this channel? Or maybe a record in WCC games? It is impressive either way.

wow, boring opening, boring middle game, and boring draw.

    არადა საჭმელი გავამზადე

Seremonial first move is important to sponsors. There's nothing stupid or silly about it.

There is rules in fide ? These players not repeat same moves for draw with opposite Colors?!🤣

Me: it's only move 18, let's get out for a run and resume the live stream later.
    Agadmator: "Hello everyone!

I think AGADMATOR should have an opportunity to make the ceremonial move at least once in his life.

I think this game meets the criteria to enter "the captures immortal" category.

Dead draw, Nepo gained a pawn but it's not enough to win. I imagine Ding wants to try and win with white, so he didn't push today.

Nepo playing like the 1300 with white pieces.

I think it would be cool to show us a game in the Ruy Lopez played by Emanuel Lasker, considering he is the longest reigning world champion. It would be a nice contrast in the different types of move order & playing styles; past vs. Present. #suggestion

Magnus would humiliate these 2 😡😡😡😡😡😡

we should make this game like in football. Win -3 points , draw -1 point, lose – 0 point.

Game just barely ended but recap is already up!😮

My god, ever since Ding’s complete mental breakdown, the chess has been as bland as can be

It's clear that Nepo is coasting and Ding is glad to be down by only one. I'm not sure what, if anything, Ding is planning for the last games.

i wanted to watch levy's recap but you were faster at doing the upload

What's the story about the secret leaked files?

Great content. I think Ding desperately needs to go from Ding chilling to Ding winning one of the next few games or he is gonna lose his most important match till date.

Hey it's dinging time it's dinging time it's dinging time it's dinging time

The capture-fest was like as if you are smacking bottle of ketchup and then everything comes out 😀

They needed to save some energy for the final few games.

Came back from university and instantly thought ah nice now I can watch the rest of the game just to turn in to the literally last 15 seconds of the press conference 😐

#suggestion any game from John Bartholomew… it is a shame he’s never been featured on the channel
