00:00 Hello Everyone!

The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.

Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

This has been exciting, but let’s face reality. Magnus would be crushing these guys this year. They are playing well below Magnus’s level.

I think Ding's head was still in Game 6. It can happen to anybody after a great victory — you just forget that the next battle is brand new and must be fought just as hard.

Can you do a video of how the game should/could have ended if Ding found a better move sooner? Would be very interesting to see the possibilities

Agad 2023: Sorry about my voice. My daughter brought something home from kindergarten.
Agad 2033: Sorry about my voice. My daughter brought something home from the library.
Agad 2043: Sorry about my voice. My daughter brought something home from the bar.
Agad 2053: Sorry about my voice. My granddaughter brought something home from kindergarten…

Magnus was like a machine. At best you could only draw or sometimes rarely win. Now, human are back in chess and we could see lots of wins, losses, mistakes, flags or even paralysis.

    Hi Agad,
    For better voice,
Drink regular time hit green team and honey and le mon, and you will recover your voice quickly. And tomorrow, it's relax day for the champion ship.😊

Ugh! French? London? Rapport!!? Hey, why not go Bongcloud next? That would really knock Nepo off his chair! I still think Ding made a mistake by bringing in Rapport. He'll regret it.

So this match is exciting and all, but I see something happening here like what happened in the early 90s, when Tinsley relinquished the checkers championship and when the PCA schism in chess occurred. In both cases, one player so far ahead of his 'world champion' contemporaries (referring to Tinsley and Kasparov respectively) that the title didn't really mean much. Does anyone else see that happening here?

Dubov said it best – silly to call decisive games good because the game quality is actually poor, in some cases worse than blitz or rapid games.

Nepo didnt erally flag him though, that is not accurate. He took his proper time.

    Ian more prepared mentally.

You forgot to show the complete moves of the game, again. But when your daughter brought something back from kindergarten, what you are you gonna do? Get well soon Agad and thank you for your amazing channel.

Everyone was sad that Magnus wasn't playing, but I'm really enjoying his retirement from the world chess championship title. I hope he never comes back. What a boring player, even Anish Giri is super exciting compared to Magnus.

Why pawn f7 to f6 is not an option to fork bishop and knight? (After pawn to f4)

When you are a world champ and also the second best 😢

This World championship match up is the most exciting I've ever seen..

RUSSIA AND CHINA ON TOP OF THE WORLD. BEAR AND PANDA BUDDIES FOREVER!

Only a monster like me can stop the video with 1 sec left 🙂

the beauty of a chess game is better shown when players have long time for thinking. FIDE should change format, at least 2 hours and 30 min with 30 sec increments for the first 40 moves

Thanks for persevering with the shorter analysis; an intriguing game. There were several time I was completely puzzled as why certain moves were made so I look forward to your more in depth analysis. Get Well Soon !

A di si bia majstore nocaric ha😂😂😂😂😂

Winning with London, running out of time… Now we need Evans.

Its awesome to see a WCC where Magnus doesnt just crush everyone. I was getting a little tired of how one sided all the games are, finally we have some more even matchups

Also, when you use the argument, "You aren't as good, so you can't have an opinion," you sound severely stupid. No one is comparing themselves to Ding or Ian. They are comparing them specifically to a player that needed to be there and is objectively better than either of these two. Of course, they are the elite of the elite.. but even then, there is one above all, that didn't want to be there, which honestly diminishes the title of "world chess champion" for whoever wins it this time… especially if Ian wins cause we know what would have happened had the #1 played.

Not to be that guy, but Magnus is truly missed in this final.. I'm not bashing just Ding but also Ian.

What should happened if after Qxc5 black played Bd4 check?…because cxd4 Rd1 check..Kg2…Qf4! is not easy to defend…and Qxd4,,,Rxd4 bring some chances of a draw

Much prefer this shorter version – over analysis makes me feel my life is not worth living. Apalling that the game was decided on time. As a total amateur I really just want to see the gameplay.

Heartbreaking meltdown by Liren 😢 hope he finds strenght to recover and bounce back…

49 move rook dance and a pawn lift is 1000 times realer than flagging lmao

Get well soon! And thanks for your dedication.

Ding has to do something about his time management. This has been a recurring problem for him in the tournament. He is almost always low on time.

It makes me sad that neither one of them is really the WCC. Magnus was right about not wanting to play Ian. And as Ian's fan, it saddens me even more. I was hoping that Ian learned some lessons from the match against Magnus and would give the performance of a lifetime, but he blunders even worse than against Magnus.
Games 1-5 Ian-Magnus were WCC games. This year, this is BS. Hope we get some better games before this is over.

Thanks for the nice recap as always, wish you a fast recovery!
