Apparently these arbiters aren't aware that gravity transcends time. Moves could easily be transmitted to the second hand from the tesseract in the 5th dimension.

If watches aren’t allowed in FIDE rules, wouldn’t the opponent GM be accustomed to not wearing watches? Feels odd that the opponent would wear a watch and that it’s enough to make Magnus “lose it”.

Thx for him ,You are the best crazy players streamer

you're an excellent sales guy, getting skillshare now!🤣

Fantastic recap Levy. Can't imagine how much time you put in those but you are a natural.

I like how the hoodie changed between video content and sponsor material 😂

Yes, Magnus, you are right, anyone who wins against you can only be a cheater.

Oh I noticed you were in Kitchen Nightmares lmao. I didn't know you were a food blogger!

All magnus has said is "I get very uncomfortable and it fucks with my head in big ways when I feel like I am playing someone who could be cheating. Hans has a history of it. The watch fucked with my head. I'm not accusing him, he played a great game. I'm just saying it fucked with my head, get your shit together and get your security right"

Levy, this click bait title is beneath you. Do better

i am getting the feeling that magnus is a sore loser

Why would I try skillshare that basicaly do the same as youtube but request money to use it we also don t talk there are less tutorials than on youtube.

This Magnus fellow sure cares about competitive integrity!

Is he still being sponsored by a gambling website that takes bets on his games?

At least this time the cess is not speaking for itself

Rules should be always required to fulfill. Everybody gets their chance to break rule if they disagree and be judged later for it. But not the other way around, where you first break rule and than argue if that rule should be followed. (Discussion about if somebody should be punished is ok, but discussion about if somebody should follow rule is not.)

I cant wait for Magnus to be involved in a poker cheating scandal.

Morse code receiver could be fit in a watch. Not to accuse or anything, but it is a possibility

This will now become a precedent whenever a high rated player loses to a lower rated opponent. Accusations of cheating can be done because the GOAT of chess started the trend. Kramnik already followed suit.

Hey Gotham, could you make a video on the Latvian Gambit? I don't get a lot of useful content on it on YouTube. Would help a lot, thanks

These scandals with Magnus blaming his opponents kinda worry me. What if he was wrong both times? I don't want to see the GOAT turning into a sore loser in denial after passing his prime

Seems that if you defeat Magnus .. You better be prepared to defend your reputation.

This whole thing could've been avoided if he just took off the watch for the match?? Are we children?

Strangely enough 9 days ago your video 2500elo against magnus?????!!

Hey just to clarify, Anton Smirnov is still part of the Australian chess federation, however due to him not playing any recent tournaments he is classified as inactive

While I don’t think he was cheating. Rules should be followed. When there’s money on the line, and cheating is entirely possible, there needs to be some battening down to avoid “scandals” such as this.

To be fair, the rules look like they've vague and open to interpretation. I read that as no smart glasses, no smart pens and no smart watches. Like every table has 2 pens on it, so it only made sense to me to read it like that.

Levi, you talk about this primarily from how it affects Magnus which is true and serious.

In addition, the rules not being followed consistently also hurts Alisher.

Alisher played an impressive game beating the world’s best player. But who will ever talk about this victory without mentioning the watch and a faint question mark around cheating?

FIDA needs to wake up and enforce their rules very strictly to protect all players. They should also probably put in much stricter rules as well. As you said, it is an existential threat to chess.

Why are you not making recaps of the US open 😭😭😭😭

The problem with Magnus is that he is a sore loser. He complains when he losses. Maybe if he is so concerned with cheating, he should make sure all his concerns are address before he even plays and not destroy his opponents, who destroys him, with silly tweets. I love Magnus the chess legend.. not this one though.

"4. Other tair plav violations are:
    a. OTB rule violations include a varietv of infractions that occur over the course of the tournament. This includes bringing a phone into the playing hall, bringing other FORBIDDEN GADGETS into the playing hall (e.g., wallets, smart glasses pens, WATCHES)…" This rule does not limit the ban on watches to electronic watches. The plain language of the rule states that bringing "watches" into the playing hall is a "fair play violation" and an "infraction." Magnus is an extremely meticulous guy. Look at how carefully he arranges his pieces perfectly symmetrically within the squares at the beginning of each game. He is certainly extremely brilliant intellectually, but a genius can lose his emotional equilibrium, which can, in turn, profoundly affect their rational thought processes, and I believe that is what happened to Magnus judging from the way he played. This fair play rule infraction, especially after it was allowed by the arbiter after Magnus questioned it, undoubtedly upset Magnus. Furthermore, how do we know that a watch that APPEARS to be an analog watch is nothing more?

Pens are banned? Then what apparatus should you write your notation on the sheet

He didn’t say he cheated – you’re going to piss Magnus off (he just lashed out at Hikaru for a similar title)

Can’t they plug the sequence of moves into a computer and test it to see if anyone cheated using the same anti cheating software they use for online games?

I supported Magnus up until here, now he's just acting like a child

I love how anytime Magnus loses it MUST be because his opponent was cheating… 😂🤦‍♂️

Can you imagine players having cameras stuck in every orifice before a match (and probably playing naked thereafter) just to prove they arent cheating. Cheating in all forms of sport is a thing. How you stop it is an artform in itself.

Just so this isn't lost, remember that Magnus blames himself for getting distracted, not his opponent.

This makes sense to me. Human brains can only thing of 1 thing at a time.
If Magnus gets his mind lost in the realm of cheating it can severly effect chess performance.

Absolutely legitimate game … BUT … smh
