I've seen the London played by GMs on numerous occasions. I currently prefer Ruy Lopez.
Surely some openings provide better opportunities either as aggressive offensive or defensive postures….but I think (I could be completely wrong, of course) that any well known opening (they are well known because they are played a lot) that you play very often… you get good at.
Andrea is relatively proficient with the London because she plays it a lot so, she has encountered many wins and many losses. She has learned what to avoid and what to exploit.
I would imagine that Magnus Carlsen, for instance, could play the London and beat a LOT of strong GMs, but who are not yet at his level.
I am not saying that Andrea is Magnus level with the London… just that she has played it so much that she is proficient with it at her own FIDE level.
