Levy! Goddam it to hell! I was about 14, a kid in a small town in Scotland circa 1980, when our English teacher introduced us to "The Catcher In The Rye". It blew my fucking mind! It encapsulated so beautifully that small window of teenage time. What we cared about. What terrified us. That beautiful idealism. It made me think that what I thought had some value. Which is priceless. And the teacher let us read our favourite passages. And they mostly involved swearing. And we mostly always laughed. Or sometimes when it was a more sombre passage the cool kids amongst us would pretend not to be moved. It's timeless.
