00:00 Hello Everyone!

Norway Chess is a 10-player round-robin featuring Top 5 stars Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja and Hikaru Nakamura taking place in Stavanger, Norway from 30 May to 9 June. Each of the 9 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 2 points and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point. No draw offers are allowed before move 30.

The 3+2 blitz opener takes place on Monday 29th and will give the winners the chance to pick their pairing numbers for the main event. The classical time control is 2 hours for all moves, with a 10-second increment per move only after move 40. For Armageddon White (the same player who had White in the classical game) has 10 minutes to Black’s 7, with a 1-second increment from move 41. Black wins if the game ends in a draw. A tie for 1st place will be decided by two 3+2 blitz games followed, if necessary, by a 5 vs. 4-minute Armageddon game. Official website: norwaychess.no

At 3:06, doesn’t c6 win the exchange for black? The rook is trapped, no?

Edit: ahh I jumped the gun a bit haha

Gukesh 💥op have great future ❤️

Gukesh almost did it. But the evitable happened.

I struggle with Magnus Carlson… – He always seems to blunder, yet hardly any of his opponents ever seem to spot them.

He is legitimately either the best player ever or his opponents just give him way too much respect (or fear)

Poor guy, Almost had a win on magnus but the nerves got to him

I sac my queen , today to get 3 minor pieces n destroyed my opponent in blitz game😊

I was actually first here…but like my chess game moves I took too long to play!

Where is the steinitz saga agadmator we are all waiting ?

It would've been a candidate for game of the century if Gukesh Won !

Gukesh fighting for the win, Magnus showing why he's Him

Thanxalot for all your hard work. Sometimes it's interesting when you get a match yourself. You pick fascinating games and keep it exciting by showing missed lines . Martin London England

Please I'm still learning. What is an Armageddon game

Queen sac against Magnus Carlsen 😐

Doesn't happen every year in classical

(USSR Championship 1961a Tournament) A Crazy Imaginative Game!!!
Plz also say something about Wilhelm Steinitz saga.

Gutsy by the 17 year old to sacrifice your queen against the former world champ and current number 1

But his confidence against a 5x champ is incredible!

I guess the golden days are over for Magnus. He needs to take chess more seriously otherwise his rating will tank even further. This was a terrible tournament for him.

Could you imagine if Magnus had to play Bobby Fischer in the endgame? If Gukesh had him beat Fischer would have dropped the hammer on him and finished him off easily! No way Fischer misses a move like that. Most overrated (literally with his rating) chess player ever! All he knows is theory and and playing memorized openings. Fischer knew theory but hated it as he said it ruined chess. He would have destroyed Carlsen using the white pieces with awkward openings and attacking. Glad Carlsen stepped down. Sure he was able to beat todays inferior chess theory players but if he had to go up against the Legend it would have been no match! Bobby Fischer was and will always be the greatest Chess Champion ever!

You better be damn sure sacking your queen against the best player in the world…😂

A Harvard study has also shown that Nakamura dreams about chess on a daily basis.

Armageddon my motorbike and roar off into the sunset like Easy Rider.

When you have 1 second left on the clock and still you are very calm. This is a sign of a world champion. I remember how Ding Li was shaking when he had 5 mins left. lol I would never consider him a world champ!

Hate when players blow their chance against Magnus
