I’ve never seen the motif of giving away a piece just so that your opponent’s piece will be blocking the square. Sweet idea. Cool game.

At 7:20 pause the video moment, what's wrong with black Q to C3? Prevents white Q to A3 and allows black to push the past D pawn.

EDIT: I saw the coming check-mate 🙂 . White Qd6, black Ka8, white Bishop takes bishop, black Q takes bishop, white Qa3 check and mate in 1.

Ciryl got destroyed. What a showing from Jones

Why in the "pause the video moment" after Bd7 black can't play Qc1+ and continue the game pushing his passed pawn?

bishop capture on b8 does not work? i was considering both

After White Bishop D7, the Queen can go to either C3 or C1 and at the same time protect the black bishop but also prevent the white queen to go to A3. Am I missing something here?

I found Bd7 after like 30min of thinking with an actual chessboard to try my variations so easier to find than in your mind lol
I was getting stuck in Bxc8 Qc1+ and perpetual as you can never go to h3. Also tried Qd8, d3 and Bxc8 but again it's perpetual and then finally other bishop moves first with the idea of deflecting the queen from d6 square and randomly found Bd7 and realized it blocked bishop exit, wow. Probably top 2 or 3 hardest puzzles I've solved.
EDIT: just realized there was a hint with the title but hadn't noticed so it didn't help me, proud I found it on my own.

I immediately took 5 seconds to play bxc8 and realize immediately that black can just force a draw checking my king forever instead of taking it. OOPS!

The move that didn't happen was a helluva move.

Isnt it the same mating threat at 6:45? What if white plays bishop captures bishop?

At the pause moment why not bishop takes bishop. The black queen can only do check.

    I got the move xD
Not my first time but this one felt nice

I wonder if Bobby Fischer would have spotted that move

These two are some of the prettiest looking chess players I've ever seen.

You are looking so nice so beautiful great fantastic video keep up good work thanks for shared stay always connected dear friend. God bless you. like 🌹🌹🌹🌷🍒🍇❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏

There were two super bishop moves, not one. Bd7 and BXB.

Got it. The inspiration was to make it difficult to clear the path. Took me 5-10 minutes. But make no mistake
It was an after-the- notification (there is a winning move) after-the-path-victory-revealed as Agad did show the queen to a-file closer, but most of all unconfirmed. I certainly did not play all the possible replies of black. So to risk a bishop this way in a game is not trivial, I am sure (I hope- haven't seen the ending yet) he won, I too might have not bothered risking that move after 40 minutes if there was a less "sacrificial" way.

Where's the last classical game of Magnus being the World Champion (in 2023)?

Bd7 is a move to push the black queen away (black will do Qxb6since it can't Qxd7) to capture a piece with Bxc8 but you can do the Bxc8 directly since Queen can't capture (the same line except that black got a tempo for no reason with the white b6 pawn gone). So in my opinion the Bd7 that is much harder to find than BxC8 (a clearer move) is actually a worse move since Black got a tempo (not that it matters with the bishop difference). So instead of Bd7 Qxb6 Bxc8 ( i don't think checking with Qxc8 is that good since you have the discovery check anyway and you have f7 pawn in your eyes – not that it would matter at the end with a bishop advantage) should have been directly Bxc8 Qxb6 much better to move with than discovery check on Bf5 to cover pawn advance Ka7 by black and Qxf7 and a full bishop advantage with black having all the pawns vulnerable.
Queen can't capture Qxc8 after Bxc8 because the line for white is Qd6+ and you can't defend the mate at a7. The point with the bishop at c8 not being able to move is not that relevant at all since even if it can move it has to move then Kc8 so that's 2 moves out of nowhere. Black Bishop or Queen laying at C8 is the same if it can or cannot move.
If for some reason the point of Bd7 would have been a forced mate I'd agree it is a good and hard-to-find move but as we can see at 7:35 the Bd7 was forced to capture a full piece and that could have been easily done with Bxc8 instead of Bd7.

7:07 i think bxc8 also works…coz the blck Queen is obliged to take c8 also..then white Qd6 check..

Hi , Have you checked out the MateriallsOverated engine IS it the Tal Bot……..😉

VERY EASY: Only bishop f5 has prevented a perpetual

I found the move without pausing the video. I guess I'm just cool like that.

Instead of your suggestion 47. Bd7, the white bishop could have just taken the black bishop on d8 with the white bishop. If 48. Qxd8, then Qd6+ 49. Ka8 and so on till mate.

Why doesn’t queen c3 work at the end, defending the bishop and guarding the queening square?

    – "Amazing game especially that bishop to D7 move that didnt happen, but luckily you guys have found it as you are incredible chess players"
-I looked at my GF and she burst into laughter. Never been so humiliated 🤣 as a chess player👏

    From the "puzzle" position, the other key point of 1. Bd7 is to force the Black Q to relinquish control of d6. So for instance, 1… Qc1+ 2. Kg2 d3 3. Qd6+ Ka8 4. Bxc8 +–

I did indeed found it, but I lack the analytical ability to solve that position for checkmate (I'm a 400 player so that's expected).

In pause the moment why not simply capture the black bishop with Bishop?Black can't recapture and would be down a piece?

Can’t can’t you just capture the bishop and the go for the A file mate again? Queen has to capture or a piece is lost and a discovery is possible

Enjoyed the game. I'm closing this video now, as there is nothing more to be done here.

lol that magical bishop move just could be spoted by somebody like Dubov

"she played h3, which looks incredibly strong, but it also loses the game" 😂

7;15, how about just grab d bishop with the white bishop, if d black queen grabs d white bishop then it will be mate in 3, or she losses the queen

Every time I see Max's surname I think of the Pokemon Wormadam

Max played b4 and won the game. Coincidence? I think not!

Why not bishop takes bishop queen takes bishop queen d6 + king a8 queen a3 + king b8 and queen a7 mate?

With your clues it wasn’t that hard to find…. Explaining the vulnerability of the A file helped!

I honestly got the move in less than 30 seconds. In fact, it seemed like a very simple idea. Ever since you showed the mate on a2, i kept thinking that white must try and get the queen back on the a file. And i m not even 1600 yet😂

Bxc8 right away does NOT work because black doesn't have to take and can make a perpetual instead (at least that's what lichess says). Bd7 is winning because the black Queen has to move away and doesn't have c6 to check the King (no perpetual possible).
After Queen moved away, white has Qd6+, Ka8, Bxc8 and if Qxc8 it's mate in two and If Queen doesn't take black also has no perpetual because white Queen is centralized now and black is down a piece
