Well in league you only have five pieces on your team and you can only control one of them, and in chess it's your own fault if you lose, so losing 48% of the time is imo infinitely less frustrating in chess, compared to one of your chess pieces randomly inting because its out of your control

It is fascinating to me how Levy uses the EXACT same language SkillCapped used, when they described his meteoric rise to Challenger in League back when he was on Ivern duty. He's a patient observer and he's commited. He favors having a bad plan over executing anything without one at all and he's a strong advocate for synergy and team play, even tho it might not seem like that at a first glance.

I think you nailed it on the head when you said he likes to explore the structure and rules of the game very methodically, because, when I heard that, I was immediately taken to League of Legends and how methodic the game is if you know the rules of macro, each champion and their interactions with each other. Also, doing a bunch of reps of something in order to understand these rules is something high elo League players do all the time.
People underestimate T1s genius. If you've seen him grind league so many calls he says are correct. He can read the map and situations SO WELL which is why regardless of what role he can hit challenger.
The thing about Tyler is the grind.
