00:00 Hello Everyone!

Norway Chess is a 10-player round-robin featuring Top 5 stars Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja and Hikaru Nakamura taking place in Stavanger, Norway from 30 May to 9 June. Each of the 9 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 2 points and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point. No draw offers are allowed before move 30.

The 3+2 blitz opener takes place on Monday 29th and will give the winners the chance to pick their pairing numbers for the main event. The classical time control is 2 hours for all moves, with a 10-second increment per move only after move 40. For Armageddon White (the same player who had White in the classical game) has 10 minutes to Black’s 7, with a 1-second increment from move 41. Black wins if the game ends in a draw. A tie for 1st place will be decided by two 3+2 blitz games followed, if necessary, by a 5 vs. 4-minute Armageddon game. Official website: norwaychess.no

Good game. Yan and ding are not playing this event. So they will of course be effected by ratting loss.

At 9:48 (re-game/notation in comments is Naka/Tary)… why not Bf5–win the exchange? Queen trade…seems OK now

you have the wrong game in the description

And it was in this position that the mailman returned.

After 3 years I can hear the mailman coming again.

9:50 why cant you move bishop f5 and pick up the rook with check ?

So when the player in the thumbnail is smiling or not, the opposite reaction is the outcome. Got it

๐Ÿ˜‚ doesnt edit it out. Total boss

Alternate title of this video: "The Postman Always Rings Twice"

Thanks for showing this game! According to the commentators, a5 was "impossible for a human to find" and then Shak played it. Anything else was almost certainly losing with that pawn on e6.

I always think of Shakh as an attacking player but this was a defensive masterclass. He is one of my favorites at the moment.

Mailman bringing Agad those YouTube checks ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ

#agadmator…I'm wondering on after black captured on R*e6, why did Fabi not play Bf7+ (double check). Does it not loose Black's queen on a3 hanging?

why doesn't Karjakin play in spectacular tournaments anymore?

Poor Nepo. 2799.8. Soooo close. Same for Radjabov I guess, 2799.6

Heavans forbid he not open the door to greet the mailman and just let him leave the mail there for 10 minutes until he can grab it later.

Agad is the only online content ever that I will NEVER fastforward, if agad waits for mailman so do I !

Bobby fischer being 2700+ 50 years ago is insane

2016 WCC – This is relevant to the 2023 WCC.

Please agad cover the other decisive game of the Sergey Karjakin vs Magnus Carlsen 2016 WCC #suggestion

What happened is that Magnus lost to Sergey AS WHITE in Game 8 but then compensated for a white loss with A WHITE WIN in Game 10. This is what happened to Liren Ding & Nepo for Games 2 & 4 of 2023 WCC.

Why doesn't a drawn match go to the player w/ more black wins (if any) s.t. Sergey Karjakin not Magnus Carlsen is 2016 WCC & Ian Nepomniachtchi not Liren Ding is 2023 WCC?

    This has happened BEFORE!

    1

    2022 Accentus Chess960

Vincent Keymer and Nodirbek Abdusattorov both finished with 5.0/7 and tied first. However, as Keymer won more games with Black, he won the tournament on tiebreak.

    2

    1980 – 1981 candidates tournament

'When the quarterfinal between Portisch and Spassky was tied after 14 games, Portisch was declared the winner because he had won more games with Black.'

Actually maybe cover the only 2 decisive games here if not already? #suggestion

    3

    1983-1984 candidates tournament

It wasn't repeated! The premise was the same! Hรผbner had more black wins than Smyslov before tiebreaks. After tiebreaks were tied, a ROULETTE determined Symslov won!!

Actually maybe cover the only 2 decisive games here if not already? #suggestion

    Other suggestions in women's chess

A – Was Kg6 in Dina's 1st GM slaying game in Reykjavik sexism? Like looking down on Dina?

    B – Anna Cramling's dad beats Mikhail Tal. #suggestion

C – Philippine women's chess #suggestion – WGM Janelle Frayna, the female Wesley So, upset Georgian GM (really GM not just WGM) Bela Khotenashvili at the 2022 world blitz.

    There's a 13-move UNDERPROMOTION puzzle here.

    [Variant "From Position"]

    [FEN "6k1/6b1/1p1P3p/6pP/3pPpP1/p2NqP2/6K1/5Q2"]

For some reason none of the Philippine channels except Kelvinllovejr even cover this game. LOL. But Janelle did cover the game where e drew against Nemo, so maybe Janelle will cover this game later on.

P.S. Please help get Wesley So on Lex Fridman's podcast. See

Agadmator should really invite the mailman for one of the videos

The nimzovich variation of the four knights of the englishโ€ฆ

    Why not Bf5+ at 9:50? Doesn't it win the exchange for white? After Bf5+, Qxg3, Bxe6+, Bxe6, hxg3?

It was in this position on moveโ€ฆ That Antonio resigned the game as after the mailman arrived, there was nothing left to be done

9:49 why not Bf5+ followed by Bxe6+ in between? Even if the king moves Fabi wins the exchange

@agadmator's #suggestion a request Please don't spoil the result if you have to show more games from a round

"Couple of instances where … Fabi responded with a sub-optimal engine move, and Mammadyarov just played all the top moves. He absolutely crushed Fabi …"

Also, 2 seconds later, about Fabi's possible Qh6 line after 21. Qh4 c6 – "if you had to calculate everything, you are a madman."

Agadmator is the philosopher we need.

    The mail-man creates suspense…!

Imagine not putting a russian flag in the ratings, sad lifes of people deciding for such bs

"The Postman Always Rings Twice" A novel by James Cain in 1934. Seems appropriate here. ๐Ÿ™‚

why not bishop back to f5 instead of d3 for fabi?!

The annotation given in description is belongs to another match which is happened between Hikaru and Aryan Tari but the video about the match happened between Mamedyarov and Caruana. Hope you will correct it

The mailman is starting to turn heads in "best supporting actor" category, previously held by Medo

With all the interruptions this week, its starting to feel like Antonio is doing a bit! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Shakh's "A" game is absolutely incredible.

When are you going to reset the "Top Donations" ? Right now the crypto market has crashed and it's very unfair to those who don't use crypto to donate to you. People can pay thousands to you if you remove the Top crypto donations and go back to the way it was.

Notice that Bobby Fischer isn't on that list. It shows how much the ratings have been inflated over the decades. Am I really supposed to believe that all of these players are better than Fischer? He won 20 straight games against GMs, 13 of them in the Candidate's Matches. None of those guys listed have done that.

It's not a rest day today. Today is Round 6
