I have a hard time believing you're hard pressed economically to the point where you feel forced to accept a deal from them, so I reckon they simply offered up a deal too juicy for you to turn down, in which case: shame on you. Magnus had the chance to have the biggest streak ever, more than Kasparov to solidify himself as the best player of all time and set a record that will never be broken. Let's instead have him not play and have the second best player Ding Liren be the world champ instead. Yea, why would anyone take chess serious if the best player in the world doesn't give af???
The standings are wild. If the top four all makes draws against one another, and Gukesh and Fabi takes down Ali and Pragg respectively, Gukesh is the winner with three players tied for second 1/2 point behind. WILD. I really doubt this scenario, but still it is wild to think about all the possible permtations.
