Hans Niemann accuses Magnus Carlsen of bribery

American chess player Hans Niemann accused reigning world champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen of paying his compatriot Arjan Tari to shout insults at the American.

In his lawsuit, Niemann alleges that Carlsen and his teammates in bars and on the street chanted the phrase “Jukse Hans”, which means “cheating Hans” in Norwegian, during the European Team Chess Championship, which was held in Austria in October.

The American claims that Carlsen paid Tari 300 euros to chant the same chant during the closing ceremony of the tournament.
