Anatoly Karpov continues to be in intensive care
Albert Stepanyan, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Russian Chess Federation, said that the 12th World chess champion Anatoly Karpov is expected to be transferred from the intensive care unit to the general department by the end of the week.
“I was talking to his wife. Unfortunately, there are no serious breakthroughs yet. Anatoly is slowly but surely on the mend. So far, he is still in intensive care, he is not being transferred to a regular ward. But he’s conscious, everything’s fine. We expect that he will be transferred from the intensive care unit this week,” – Stepanyan said.
At the end of October, Karpov fell unsuccessfully and was hospitalized with a hip fracture and a traumatic brain injury at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute.
