Sergey Smagin could not predict the winner of the Superfinal
Vice-President of the Moscow Chess Federation Sergey Smagin said that it is difficult to guess who will be the winner of the Russian Chess Superfinal held in Cheboksary. This is explained by a large number of draws.
“The tournament is very tight, and almost all participants can claim victory. They can still add, and it is very difficult to predict the winner, because a huge number of draws have been recorded. It is unclear what caused such peacefulness, now the leaders have a very modest result of “+1″. And after all, quite a large number of draws were made without a fight at all. It is difficult to talk about the quality of the game when in more than 50 percent of the games the opponents agree to a draw immediately after the debut,” Smagin said.
After the 6th round, Sanan Sjugirov, Daniil Dubov and Vladislav Artemiev are in the lead, having 3.5 points out of 6. Eight grandmasters are half a point behind.
