A brief history of chess – Alex Gendler

Trace the storied history of the game of chess, from its origins in 7th century India to the computer software we use today.

The attacking infantry advances, their elephants already having broken the defensive line. The king tries to retreat, but the enemy flanks him from the rear. Escape is impossible. This isn’t a real war— nor is it just a game. Over the 1,500 years of its existence, chess has been known as a military strategy tool, a metaphor for human affairs and a measure of genius. Alex Gendler shares its history.

Lol…I, being an Indian myself- I couldn't understand the name of the place due to the way in which the narrator pronounced it. No offense…but by the way the narrator pronounced it "ASHTAPADA"(the place where Chess first was created)- it seemed more of a British place than an Indian place.
Could understand only when I read the name by myself…

    So funny…throughout 😂😂😂

The modern version of chess is Persian/Iranian.
Persians/Iranians completely changed it into this today's version.
The older one that indians invented was very different.
Most of the names and termes in this game are also persian.

Actually, the international status of chess was driven in the twenties through the fifties by famous math and physics career people like Capablanca, whose citizenship varied from Cuba to European countries to Argentina and Brazil.
