Honestly I'm glad he got banned. I have no idea why creating a second account to smurf on is even allowed. If your online account has a GM rank that needs to be matchable to a real life GM, otherwise it should be considered a cheating account

i dont think its completely unreasonable, like he said hes getting into similar positions every match that hes familiar with, add that to the time pressure of an unfamiliar 3 min game for his opponents, and also the inevitable tilt that they are not completely winning in a game where they just start up a piece, cant know for sure obviously but it seems very reasonable that its legit to me

nah but like if Danya does some analysis on that opening, Brandon got no chance right?

I don't play chess but his opening has nothing to do why he got banned he got banned because it was thought he used an engine. Did he actually use an engine? Does any GM use an engine? Who the fuk knows, right? I am assuming all GMs can play top engine moves with some periodicity.

So which is more likely – this guy is a cheater, or Naroditsky and Nakamura are overrated? Both sound pretty likely to me.

How about Gotham puts up the prize money for your proposed in person match.

There should be bans for playing garbage openings.

No amount of money will get your hair back. 🙂 Not even clickbait.

The longer the explanation, the bigger the lie…

Stockfish may disagree, but it's not easy for a human to play against prepared opponent. Rooks are harder to use early in the game, so it may get very tricky. I played a certain opening with similar disadvantage quite a few times, it's not that bad if you know what you are doing.

Can you hire this guy as a support artist for the Kramnik vs Jospem match?

The opening should be called "The Leveler System"

No idea if he cheated or not, but it could be he cheated and revealed himself just for the publicity. He can arrange an over the board match with Daniel now, make some money and increase his notoriety further. Even if he loses otb, he can just claim nerves or that Daniel was prepared this time.

A match wouldn't be the same thing. Because of the fact that for him his honor and career would be at stake. It's hard to play well if you care (ask Hikaru for info)

I think we need to add a couple more players to the Cheating tournament
So they can prove their worth in an over the board game 😀

    Edit:
He mentions my idea at the end
    Sooooo…
    HYPED!!!

Your in person match suggestion seems to be quite logical HOWEVER this crazy first couple of moves strongly relies on the fact that opponent NEVER EVER has seen that opening. Essentially Im giving up the exchange sacrifice for being in a position Ive seen thousands of times vs you who has never prepared for it not even once.

Please do a series on all the openings in depth i would love it because you make it so easy to understand the game properly

When you actually look at the engine vs what is played, I find it really really hard to believe there's any cheating here.

The truth always prevails because this is not the end, if you believe in the truth, so we all see the complete truth in the next life. So the truth does prevail, you just have to believe in it.

It really makes me sick that when you win a game or two with a high accuracy, everyone gets suspicious and accuse you for cheating. This is the easiest way rather than say (my opponent outsmarted me). It's all the matter of egos.

Eric Hansen you went after Hans, now here is another caise for you. Start beating the drum, or not?!

Just sounds like a new 'meta'; it works because people haven't had chance to adapt to it yet. If it looks stupid but it works, that doesn't mean it's cheating.

if they did an OTB match like that though Danya would have prepped with engine to refute the opening entirely so that wouldn't work. Danya lost because he had no idea of what is the best line to play against it. The element of surprise wouldn't be there now…..

4:20 The irony of Levy calling Brandon a nerd whilst being a teacher of chess is bloody hilarious!

The proposed game is can only work against Brandon, Danya will simply prep the position and roll him, which will result in the world being convinced that he was simply cheating that match.

"Vihh_Sou" is like "viçou"/"viçar", a northeast slang here in Brazil for people who make stupid things or don't take anything that serious.

The match you suggested is a bad idea. The opening works because his opponents know that it's bad but not the theory to prove it. If there is a planned match, whoever he plays in that match will be able to learn the theory and crush him.

I'm inclined to believe Brendan for the simple yet compelling reason that nobody has put forward a single piece of solid evidence that he cheated.

This opening was invented by me 5 years ago he stole it from me i have evidences of games i played using this opening before learning chess academically ruined my creativity!

I am with my 800 elo can play the same opening and win GMs using stockfish + some of my stupid moves to look more natural… So where is any reason to believe them?

The fair play policy also covers other things other than cheating
Is it possible he's violating other provisions, for example using an undisclosed secondary account and "manipulating ratings"

"Do not allow anyone else to use your account.
Do not use anyone else's account.
Do not artificially manipulate ratings, matches, or game outcomes."

They are both cheaters. There are no mistakes after that opening until an equal position, where he can play some stupid moves to not get a ban. They should to play a live game with the same opening to prove they are not cheaters.
