I wish some billion dollar company would just sponsor a match between Hikaru and Carlsen like they did with Fischer and Spassky. Anyway although I was rooting for Hikaru congratulations to Gukesh, what a great tournament for him, I hope he can go on to beat Ding Liren.

I will miss the recaps. The first thing I did after waking up was see your recap. Today's was the best one till date. It was like watching a movie with so much suspense. Wanted the candidates to continue just so that the recaps don't stop!!!!!!!

Best candidates ever? As for the talk about the time controls… I'm not a chess expert, but it seems to me you have to draw a line somewhere. You can't pause games overnight like they used to do because of the availability of the engines. And even if you could, would you really want to? There is no perfect answer, and I think what we have is pretty close.
Gukesh clearly played well all tournament, but the gamesmanship of "not losing" vs Hikaru on what should be your crowning day, your biggest achievement to date, is cowardly.
Gukesh is going to crush Ding Liren.

I was rootting for Caruana and seeing him lose the advantage for 4 times is just heart breaking. But honestly Gukesh will probably become as great as Bobby Fischer, Magnus Carlsen and Gary Kasparov. If he continues to compete in chess he will certainly exceed Viswanathan Anand.

Nepo looked sick knowing that all he could do was defend and Fabi just missed. Watching this play out live was exhausting just to be some random mook sitting at home in my pajamas, I can't imagine what it must have been like to be sitting there playing it out.

I don't think Nepo would have claimed the draw, because he also needed a win. Caruana should have played Qa8 the third time, and find better, winning move from there (Qe8). For Nepo, draw is like a loss, but Caruana probably thought that he would have claimed the draw.
