15:38 I really don't understand this line of thought (I watched Hikaru's review and he said the same thing about this position). Playing for a draw out of fear of losing and giving Gukesh a win and leaving the "final" decision to the other two players seems too tame. It seems pretty straight forward to me: if I lose, Gukesh wins the whole thing, If I draw, he may still win if the others draw (which is, at this level, a strong possibility); then, I play for the win. To the Death. For the Glory or the flames. You "burn the fleet" and make a last stand. I dunno…

Thanks for the great coverage of the Candidates!!

Sad for americans discovering that the Candidates had 7 other players and not only Hikaru

The candidates are always so emotionally crushing towards the end and you can't help but wish all 4 of them could win. Respect to everyone for fighting till the end and thanks to levy for the best recaps as usual

It is sooo heartbreaking😭😭😭. I wanted Ian to win so hard!!! I almost crying(((

Hikaru thought he was in queens gambit series

stayed up the whole night was worth it fr

Oh my god! Fabi's game almost put me in suspense. What a game! What an event!

This recap and yesterday's recap are a great point to the argument that chess without the eval bar is much more entertaining

You have a Rubik's cube in your background

Still amazes me that a professional 2800 chess player like Caruana couldn't spot those simple tactics at end, and he was in winning position multiple times. He just bottles under pressure. It's like a professional tennis player failing to do a simple slow forehand to get ball over net without anyone standing on other side. He needs a sports psychologist and more importantly a really good kick up the ****. That's why Carlsen reigned supreme, just absolutely ruthless and determined

Heart breaking watching the end of Ian V Fabi. The body language and everything. Ian said "I'm very sorry" Fabi said "likewise" and it was so sad to watch.

“Fabi thinks for a little while” was the theme of the match. I really think he wins that match with better time control.

Nepo apologizing to Fabi was just so heartbreaking

I was definitely rooting for Fabiano, he's the most deserving for contending the World Championship. Seeing him blunder a certain victory under time pressure was hard to watch.

All because of this non cempetitor Vidit aka oxygen waster winning twice against Hikaru. Ridiculous

Even the chess deck promotion was sad🙂

Nijat Abasov and Alireza Firouzja did not deserve to play in this tournament. Abasov clearly too weak, not even in Top100 best players. Finishing 4th in one tournament should under no circumstances let you play in the candidates tournament.
And Alireza cheated his way into qualifying through staged tournament. Unlike Ding, who simply needed a certain number of games played. While Alireza can be a capable player, it seems like he's mentally weak, so having to go through all this drama in order to qualify destroys him. He knows he's an imposter, and it messes with him.

am i the only one in a rollercoaster of emotions on the fabi nepo game?

Don’t you be hiding the eval bar. My heart can’t take it.

After 12 years india is there in the finals(not icc)🇮🇳

The craziest part of all of this is that Gukesh does not play online/computer chess – only OTB

Unbelievable, amazing recap. Thank you Levy, only you can create such dramatic and breathtaking videos 😍. Beautiful tournament, I'm happy for Gukesh ❤

Amazing coverage as always levy, thx a lot🫶🏼

Too good lewy awesome recaps makes chess so interesting

Let's be honest – Gukesh is going to crush Ding. Ding will feel way too much pressure to retain. He isn't made to be a long time champion – no way. The only question I have is will a 17 year old chess champion in Gukesh get Magnus motivated one more time to try to take the title back from Gukesh and show he is STILL the best even against the next generation's best. I could see Magnus doing 1 candidates, winning it, then beating Gukesh for the title again and then not defending his championship – basically all that to show he is the best still.

I couldn't watch this video because I can't recover from seeing Fabi tear up after move 41

Anticlimactic ending :/ for a great tournament

I was watching a tournament at 3 Am for the first time 💀 just to support gukesh 😊

Fabi put on a Hall of Fame chokejob.

Nepo kept letting him back into the game and he just couldn't capitalise.

So many damn commercials in this video. Could not follow or keep my train of thought because of all the ads.

Liked the video purely out of respect.

CANDIDATE 2024 IS THE GOAT CANDIDATE. THERES NO QUESTION

Nepo vs Caruana match kept me on the edge of my seat, breath taking. Gukesh the crowned champion!!

Fabiano was clearly better than Nepo. But he's forced to throw his whole lead away after making best move after best move cause of time control. The other guy (Gukesh) can just sit back and watch the result of the other game while playing defensive. Is this how you chose the best player? XD This game has become a joke, you can lie to yourself all you want, it's not what it used to be. Have fun watching Ding Liren vs Gukesh for the title when they aren't even nr1 and nr2 in the world XDDDDD

Levy is the absolute best. Great Candidates tournament. Impressive games.

It was just heartbreaking. I didn't even care whether Fabi or Nepo went on to tiebreaks, I just wanted one of them to make it.

Well, at least Hikaru didn't make it either lmao
