chat gpt is a program that produces mountains of high-level gibberish at insane rates.
it is sophisticated enough to trick non-experts, but cannot do anything meaningful beyond that.
in case it's not obvious by 6:30, you are indeed playing against stockfish.
just as cgbt plagiarizes everything it pumps out, it is now plagiarizing stockfish (as well as, probably, all the chess literature that has ever been published)
Try a4 against it, it probably doesn't know any theory in that line
I honestly expected it to play like this, strong opening, good midgame, falls apart at endgame. It makes sense considering its an LLM.

If you keep informing the bot verbally about the game and the variation being played every few moves, surely this is artificially helping prevent it from getting off-track and doing something stupid or even chess-illegal?

Can you try it again while always reminding it of the pieces positions and reminding it of what level to play at. If you do that each turn I think it will play more consistently

It is possible to extend human values and prosperity without mediating human worth (to self or others) through AI. It's just that some very selfish, evil, arrogant people want everything for themselves at great cost to others, and they seem endemically incapable of being better than that, and they tend to be clogging up the arteries of Western civilization for a while now, using wars, schemes and scams to aggregate their influence while succeeding mainly through the displacement of blame upon others for the harms that they cause, while accruing to themselves the benefits of their crimes as laundered through that scapegoating process. AI is just another means to that end in their hands.

You can enter a PGN and it will instantly tell you your main flaws and how to improve them.
I played chess against ChatGPT when it first got popular. It completely forgot where the pieces were every time! I will try again now!
