MAT means died
So it is The king is dead
Stockfish is still the best? Did they have another update to beat alpha zero?
We Arabs say mat as dead like mate is an Arabic word
Levy describes the move a queen like it's a rook. xD
What I want to know is how big of a gap is there between top 3 you mentioned (Fisher, Kasparov, Magnus) and the next best? Thank you!
Maat is an Arabic word also. It means (Dead).
In Portuguese, the Knights are called Horses and Rooks, Towers. Makes more sense I guess, except for the Harry Potter world where they rode the horses and were technically Knights…
Chess in German is "Schach".
I did the Leonardo DiCaprio point when I saw ContraPoints
Wrong about “mat” or “mot” – that translates to “dead”… but good guess 🤷🏻♂️
I was really hoping that you could have explained stalemate, because I know many people (myself sometimes included) still doesn't understand it.
12:50 I am not in any way good at chess, but is this not a stalemate?
As far as I can see the king cannot move at all, because the queen blocks all the squares and the tower is blocking the square the queen is on. As far as I understand, the king cannot move to a square that is currently in the path of an opponent's piece.
Mat means dead in hebrew
This was a fun watch! Do Go (aka Baduk/WeiQi) next! 🙂
This man is my Chess Harry Potter
Šahmat is checkmate
Šah is chess
You Used a Slovenia word
Resigning a game where you have a mate in one?
in my country "Šah mat" means "Šah" the name of the game and "mat" the death of a king
I see that post-Hogwarts Harry Potter has continued playing Wizard’s Chess to great success.
was not expecting contrapoints in here lol
9:54 in italian we call it “cavallo” that literally translates to “horse”
Here in Brazil the Knight is actually just called a horse.
Ive found that with minimal playing at my highschool, offering someone white does 3 things. 1.) Makes them either feel that your stupid, and giving them an obvious advantage or that youll trick them 2.) It gives you the proper time to respond to how someone plays and build off of it 3.) You get better reading someones moves, body language, eye movements, etc. Maybe I get too into the phycological aspects of chess but its very satisfying to see someone whos played the game ten or so times and won get very cocky slowly shut up and crumble, or watching the quiet kid slowly start to smile as he has fun in a chess match against someone with similar skill. Who knows I just like playing the game for fun and humbling the cocky guys while bringing a smile to the "nerds" 🙂
0:34 Love how they wrote the Arabic wrong.
It would be fascinating to go back in time and hand Morphy or Fischer (or any of the other greats – Capablanca comes to mind too) a tablet running Stockfish 15.
14:36 while he's still reading the tweet he solved it lol
Just so everyone knows not anyone can become a grandmaster just by working hard at it. They are exceptional individuals with high IQs. It takes genetics and dedication.
lol in dutch we say schaak mat what kinda sounds like the persian shah mat
Check mate شيخ مات sheikh dead
I never understood how people can understand how to play these games lol I always just moved at random back at school
My sister's 17 year old just came out and visited between Christmas and New Years, and they are dating a girl who is into chess. So I got to knock some rust off the ol' chess brain and refind that joy. Later this year, when my daughter becomes 6 I plan to start teaching her. Between her love of board games, agile mind, and desire to be just like dad, I think she will enjoy it and do well.
Random Contrapoints out of nowhere lol.
9:55 In Bangla and HIndi (and also probably in some other related languages) the knight piece of chess is called ghora or ghode which literally means horse.
Vibrating devices in their shoe or ELSEWHERE! If you know you know ;D
LMFAO
I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt this show got viewed by HUNDREDS of millions of people…
Any book of Chess recommendations? Any how many moves can you make in 1 game or allowed to do.
I love chess, just a shame no I know plays it. So I play with myself, the issue is I know what the next will be or what black or white moves will do. So the chess pieces protect eachother really well and to risky to activate that chain of protection and domino. So it will lead to chaos.
Of course the best part is when you can sacrifice pawns but allowing you to move another pawn to that position to check the king and you keep checking while taking out
My question what moves leads to the fastest win on both side. Is it possible for both list? Good books about chess? chess opening for example.
Also does anyone know where I can buy good quality nice quality chess pieces and board.
In what order does the most valuable pieces you don't want to trade out or lose.
So the obvious first two are the King and Queen
4:23 The best for me is analyze your moves and consequences of your moves and the enemy.
i didn't liked it
he don't have an unmatched perspecacity
That's wizards chess
I stopped when he said he didn't know why it's not called a horse. 🤦♂️
wow, wired is at 9.99m subscribers, almost 10m!
Excellent explanatio. You did a very good job
You look like the love child of Leon Trotsky and Daniel Radcliffe. Not meant as an insult or compliment, just stating an observation 😂
it would be cool if it was magnus.
What do you think about the wooden shield?
Hey while you're here my friend has this weird rash on his tank what should I do
15:24 zwugzwan? ZWUGZWAN!???
You what, mate??? LMAO!
