The Chess.com Classic is the second of four tournaments preceding the Champions Chess Tour live Finals. Carlsen and Firouzja both earned spots in Division I based on their performance in the Chessable Masters, and fought their way to the Grand Finals to face each other!

The 2024 Champions Chess Tour (CCT) is Chess.com’s most important event series of the year with the overall winner being crowned Tour Champion, the highest annual honor conferred by the world’s largest chess platform. New for 2024, each regular season event has had its prize pool increased from $235,000 last year to $300,000—the largest ever offered for CCT events outside the Tour Finals. The pool for the Tour Finals remains $500,000 making the total available on the Tour a cool $1.7 million. Also new for 2024, the time control for every stage will be 10+2.

I hate that they don't show magnus throwing the water bottle….SHOW IT! Show players in their raw environment. Enough with this censorship crap. We want to see the RAW FEELINGS AND REACTIONS OF THE PLAYERS!! STOP TRYING TO MAKE THEM APPEAR BETTER LIKE SAINTS BY PANNING THE CAMERA AWAY.
It’s just rapid. Alireza still doesn’t have the discipline to seriously challenge Magnus and co in standard time control.
Great tournament! Great games! But. Very strange format. The word "Final" is used too many times. Final this, final that. We already sometimes getting confused with Armagedon, and on top of that we have several "finals", just confusing a bit.
I dont like pulling and moving the pieces by commentators during so intresting match, arrows are good… but moving pieces 🙁
Commentators were Magnus biased from the beginning till the end.
Surprisingly even after Alireza delivered the surprise, they still lean towards Magnus.

I think Magnus was just bored with winning comp in, comp out; he could have gotten away with a draw game four, but he decided to spoil the spectators instead with a good show. Good on him. And kudos to Firouzja, of course.
