Hans Niemann has made additional posts addressing the accusations, stating that he hasn't caused any major damage, such as breaking tiles or anything of equivalent significance. However, he did confess to damaging items like a remote and a lamp:
Hans tweated "I did break TV remotes, a lamp, an ironing board. Additionally, the glass frame of a painting was shattered which according to the hotel pierced the couch and caused damage."

I don't necessarily see the end of big money online tournaments, but maybe the end of big money online tournaments from private quarters.
For decades, certification businesses have implemented proctored locations to pass online tests in controlled environments.
Rules and locations can be set up around the world according to standardized or even custom specifications. Although the locations don't necessarily have to be humanly managed, someone local must be responsible for the condition and security of each location and possibly periodic maintenance like keeping the place clean, stocking amenities, etc.
It's worked before for major businesses and could work for chess, too.
I'd imagine that the requirements to set up proctored labs might even stimulate chess clubs and chess play in those areas.

The problem with the Jospems and Lazaviks is, that their online rating and FIDE rating are too much apart. That makes them instantly suspicious. When a Top 1000 FIDE rated player online crushed every top 20 player, then you start to ask questions.
You donβt have arbiters all over the world
You have a tournament location where player show up
You only need a couple arbiters.
All the players continue to play live with a mouse and computer
I don't know, it's kinda like how when somebody dies on a roller coaster, suddenly the coaster gets super popular. There's just something about drama and danger that draws people in. So if anything, all of this drama is ultimately gonna be good for chess.
Maybe the solution is computer controlled live events where the player has to show up
