The suspicious part for me was the after game interview after beating magnus.
He could not explain the position and called it "obviously winning" ( the engine said it was losing).
He stumbled over the explanation as to why it was winning despite playing perfect moves during the game.
This is SO good!
Those accusing him should prove it. The Piers man is biased
Some points here about the 'meaningless games':
– if you thought they were meaningless why go through the trouble of cheating?
– even if it is not for money, a streamer gets money from the viewership and by cheating and making yourself look better you indirectly make more money. Anyone could become a streamer by using an engine.
Hans' biggest mistake is having the attitude of a 'World Champion' with things like saying 'chess speaks for itself' when he is known to have cheated. When you have that chip on your shoulder you should try to redeem yourself, explain your moves after a game, say why you went down that path, what lines you saw. Don't just beat the WC while people suspect you and then not say how you came up with the moves.
Don't seek the respect you want before deserving it.

7:00 lying, he's talking about the first time he was caught. The last time he was caught cheating was 1 year and 3 months prior to his match with Magnus, if my memory doesn't fail me. He did it on Title Tuesday.

Well Hikaru, it's possible Hans didn't know who Piers Morgan really was. I would never ever do an interview with Morgan because he has ZERO integrity or respect for other people. Morgan sees himself as a GOD above all others. To him, everyone is fair game.
This made my day, but I do feel sorry for Hans. He never should've agreed with this interview

All that being said, I don't think doing two bad things means you should be banned from chess for life. There should be some sort of a behavior rewards/punishment system designed to take care of this.

As a teenager I did the same thing the same way.
Then I had a mentor and teacher who was banned for cheating the same way. He’s been with me for years.

Hikaru, I'm losing respect for you. I was born deaf, so I've been reading body language and facial expressions my whole life to understand what someone is saying and when they are telling the truth or BSing around. Hans telling the truth, but people like you have already made up your mind that he's always cheating, etc… That makes you as bad as the UK government going after Russell Brand who has changed his way from his past and since he's embarrassing the government with the truth they are targeting him. You and many others are doing the same thing to Hans. Look, Han may be an oddball, but he's telling the truth.
