The top 3 players in the world aren't playing in this tournament yet the reigning world champion is playing (pretty rare to hear something like that), and what is really outrageous is that even in the absence of the 3 top players, the World Champion probably won't even win the tournament at this rate. Ding did not handle this game the way a professional should. If Chess was a company and Ding was the CEO I'm sure shareholders would be calling for his resignation and to put someone better in charge. We all know Magnus is the greatest, but funny thing is that Ding isn't even a close second, or a second at all. When Levy asked Magnus in the interview about the second strongest player Magnus said probably Fabi….He didn't even consider Ding at all. Very likely Ding won't defend the title…Fabi, Hikaru, Pragg, Nepo, Alireza….any of them could win in a match.
