Has he ever done well in a Fischer Random tournament?
I am aware that a lot of chess is memorization of positions and knowing what the best move is given the current board state.
I am also aware that a number of chess grand masters do not necessarily do well, or at least as well as one might think, at figuring out the best move in a nonsensical board state.
I am wondering if Ding is really struggling with the opening nonsense of Fischer Random.
What we see from all the other players is generally making their way through the opening nonsense without any major blunders to then play out the rest of the game as a "normal" chess game.
I mean… ding is probably super rusty

Hey Levy, we met Magnus at breakfast and wished him ‚good luck‘ and well… he won. 😉 And we felt a little sad to see Ding powerlessly staring at his breakfast boiled egg. He really deserved better.
