Me having the elo 1300 in one week: 🗿🗿

Thank you. Now I know I will never be a master. I can start playing for fun

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:29 🏆 Self-study and play chess a few hours daily; no need for extensive hours or coaching to improve.
01:40 🧩 Focus on puzzles for pattern recognition; critical for improving tactical skills in chess.
02:37 🎓 Watch educational chess content on YouTube, recommended channels: Chess Vibes, Chess Talk, Gotham Chess.
03:06 🚫 Avoid bullet and blitz chess initially; prioritize thinking before moves for better improvement.
03:20 💸 Utilize free learning tools and resources; no need to spend money on chess improvement.
03:38 🌐 Congrats on reaching 800 ELO; schedule a rematch with your dad or grandpa as you've built fundamental skills.
04:07 🤯 Explore powerful weapons like the Scandinavian defense and the England Gambit for rapid ELO improvement.
05:33 🧗 Chess improvement is a marathon, not a sprint; be patient and trust the process.
06:50 🔄 Analyze games, identify mistakes, and learn from them to overcome plateaus in chess improvement.
07:18 📚 Start learning endgames; essential as blunders decrease and games progress beyond the opening and middle game.
08:09 🏅 Reaching 1200 ELO puts you in the top 10%; consistent learning and analysis are crucial for progress.
09:04 🌐 Learn middle game plans in your openings; understanding ideas and plans is vital for chess improvement.
09:46 🧠 Avoid overly focusing on openings; balance studying endgames and middle games for overall improvement.
11:18 🏋️ Discipline in puzzle-solving; focus on accuracy over speed to enhance calculation and visualization skills.

How can you do puzzles for 30 mins I get a few everyday and you said not to waste money on chess so I don't understand

Thank you so much bro I beat my grandpa I am. A 872 now

The queen puzzle in the beginning… I’m 630 elo right now…
Wouldn’t you take with bishop then after king takes shouldnt you check with queen and then take black queen so after you lose your rook your queen takes bishop? Otherwise it’s a rook and bishop for a queen right?

I find this video way tooo relatable chess vibes ,daniel & obviously our boi levy everything is spot on once I almost quit and caro kan brought me back but one thing I disagree with is the sicilian part I am not discarding it😅 (I am rated 1600 rapid about 20 months ago I watched a video with the title "how to play chess " from GothamChess)

Top tip: Try to have at least 130 IQ but really you want to aim higher. Yes, some 140 IQ are only decent, but overall it will help alot!

    I litteally reached 1700 rapid n a year started 15/1/2023

imo puzzles are not a good way to 800. my puzzle rating is 1800 and ive done over 7k puzzles. still 600.

its been 6 month since i started from 0 and im 1550 but not a competition

So I've been trying to get serious with chess and after around 3 months at it I've struggled and plateaued. Then, I came across this beauty of a video. PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES! Total game changer, never thought twice they would help so never did them and now I'm on them daily and they serious improve your gameplay, get a puzzle app and watch your rating shoot up

Best video for a beginner like me. I love the London! I went to the library and got a book… Ive been a bodybuilder for years but felt I was lacking in mental training. I was also in Civil Engineering (dropped out) but recognized I had no spatial recognition, pattern recognition, or very good problem solving skills… I, too, have been scouring for educational YT vids, and love your recommendations!

Sick vid, bro and thank you!! Gonna start puzzles soon!!

“Don’t play the Sicilian defense (beginner)” me : well you kinda make me wanna do that after you do “your not that guy pal” meme.

you cant be zero elo. dont give misinformation!

Nice job on the journey to 1700. I started in march 2023 at 100 Elo and then went to 1700(currently at 1792) on January 6th 2024
Edit:Just reached 1900 after endless playing

Don't play much online, but 1900 elo in a few months

Im 746 elo in rapid and 2126 elo in puzzles, what advice should i take?

Came back to this vid after a while, just wanted to say, i love you my guy

I was 900 some months ago but 1200 on new year

First of all congrats! It is pretty impressive and if I may ask how long have you studied daily on average? And where and how you doing that analyzing of your games? Thanks a lot.

me stuck at 400 after more than a month 🙁

I really thought it's abnormal to only play 3-5 games a day. After watching your video it now makes sense. I started to learn caro-khan and play a couple of gambits, such as queen's gambit, king's gambit and scotch gambit. I would love to play the london system as well as Scandinavian for black. I'll only try to learn openings that would really benefit me. Your video helps a lot. Especially for a beginner like me. I'm currently at 1100ish and still grinding.

I been playing for six months, I have a 1300 and got 2nd place in my last two tournament. Hope you can give me some tips on endgames!

Online elo has no value! Only over the board elo counts and is recognised by Fide

Thank you for this advice! I’ll definitely do them puzzles 🧩

    500 isnt 0 elo
On top of that if you were playing higher you gained more points.
The whole chess community is a lie.

Very cool video! What you are saying is almost exactly what I have been telling friends and other players. Puzzles, puzzles, puzzles. London for White, and Caro-Kann or Pirc/King's Indian for Black. Nothing wrong with 1. d4 d5 of course. My YT recommendations are GothamChess, Chess Vibes and Remote Chess Academy. And later on, Danya.
For White I used the London, then the Bishop's Opening, and now mostly the Jobava London. Still using the same two Black openings above.
Also, I've won lots of games simply because my opponent didn't know much about endgames, or how to steer the middlegame towards an endgame you wanted to play.
Openings and endgames are not too hard to master–at least to a good functional level–with some study and playing games. The middlegame is the deep dark forest of chess.
Looking forward to your "How I made it to 2000" video!

i watched thsi 8 months ago and was like no way i started 8 years ago and still 1200 😢, now been studying and got to 1900 this month

At 1:39 you showed a puzzle which is very tricky, the answer is correct, but I also saw that also if Bxd6?! then 3.Ng5+! and Qxg4 is unstoppable.

I started playing bullet 2016, I'm stil 600 elo bullet. I might be braindead

you should make a video about your openings

    I played 1491 games in one year. That's an avarage of 4 games a day. I started on December 24th 2022. Today I'm (only) 1189 elo…. Mmmmm…. 😢
