Chess is required school study in Armenia for little kids? Just another game to keep kids from building factory's that got mankind out of poverty. Rich nation, huh?
Might as well play chess or throw a ball around. I remember I joined a school chess club when I was 8 or 9 in school in 72,—but that was not required and happened because of Bobby Fischer growing instantly the popularity of the game in the USA. I had no idea at the time. I think I joined because my brother joined. I think it only lasted a few weeks or months.

The game reminds me of "life". You make moves in your life that shape your future. You make one bad move, and your entire future could change for the bad. Same thing goes for good moves though, for the good. Life is easier then chess. 🙂

I have minimized my blunders, but they are still too many. 🙂

9:21 Why can't the king move, "King can't move"? I see 4 squares it can move to.

A honest question. At min 3:19, you say "I attack the knight as well, (with the queen move), as if it is equal to his bishop taking the black knight all there alone on the side of the board. But that white knight you "attack" is protected by the bishop just as the bishop, (which you can also attack with your queen), is protected by his queen and king. If you don't want to lose your queen, why would your opponent think his knight or bishop is under attack? It is a valid question for the definition of what you mean.
I think they are just under surveillance. 🙂
20 more seconds of vid, and I would have seen your bishop. duh.

Just being critical: Min 3:00 The d4 pawn was not defended by the bishop that took the knight or anything else. You think so fast, you are running yourself over. Go take a 2 week vacation to rural Pennsylvania to slow down a bit. 🙂

If I have no idea how a player gets "rated", what do you think my rating is? 🙂

I would love to see all you chess YT video professors should have a tournament on line for all to see. Start a go-fund-me page for $50.00 start money, (to get the bernies off their azzes to play it), and the top 3 get 100% of the rest of pay, (minus expenses for setting the tournament up, if any). You guys, this is how big new things start. All you internet professors from all over the world. It would be a great event that may go viral. You never know where free market competition can take us. It takes off as if it is alive and breathing. Just as much as you and I, no more and no less. Spread the idea to your colleagues. I think it will be great. you might be surprised at how much money can come it too. If it takes off and is popular,–then, you will be able to get real free market sponsorships, (which is not YT ads). That is how freedom works. 🙂
I am betting that you will be in the top 3.

I'm cramming chess knowledge for my second ever chess tournament that I have the day after tomorrow.
This really helped, and I am confident.
I'll come back when it is finished and tell how it went.

20:45 couldn't the king also escape g1, h2 and get away in this position. the back-rank mate is gone.

I have a long running matchup with an 1800 player. I'm in the mid 1600s. So far I have 2 draws and 4 losses playing 1 day or less per move games. What skills would you suggest I focus on first to improve?

Good stuff. I like your honesty and enthusiasm. Quite contagious. Thank you.

Any other SSBM fans here who saw Mang0, lol

You've blown my mind with those explorations!!!!

I assumed a one-mover was smth like hanging a piece but here levy is saying "one mover" and then talking about like a 5 move line lol

I once had 1000+ rating and now I have 150

Hands down the most charismatic/passionate of all the chess YTers – props though to Rosen, Hikaru, et al

A friend loveth at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17 KJV ❤️👑👬

I hear this man as both an American and a Russian

Interesting watching this now. I have been a casual player literally all my life and I'm pushing 50 now but I just always had other things to do. So I decided a few days ago to try to get better and take the game seriously. I don't know theory yet and don't expect to become a GM or anything (probably) but just on sheer experience I'm fluctuating about 900. I just played the best game of my life. I lost. Yet this is the first game EVER where I really tried to predict what the other player would do. Most of the time, I was right and only a couple of times, I didn't see it coming.

I like your calculation theory. Do you have it written down somewhere I can use as a reference?

At 4:19, couldn`t black play Qb4+ and then take the undefended knight?

Thats right. back home in armenia everyones at least 150 rated hahaha

    Checklist:

1)What is my opponent doing? what does he want?
    2) Do I have any checks?
3)Do I have any useful capture? if yes, what does that do?

Levy may not be a GM Chess player yet, but he sure is a GM in teaching! Thanks for this.

Man, you look like Harry Granger(A version of Harry Potter who reads lots of books)!! Cool and knowledgeable vid tbh!! Thanks.

18.23 – rock takes F4? and the king goes nowhere?

Damnit I already calculate in math class. Now I gotta do it for chezs

Can someone please tell what is the 'Checklist' ?

ok so dont hang queen in 0 moves waiiiiit im confused

what if at 14:06 white rook does not take black queen (rook is covered by white queen) and instead first moves king out of check? Black bishop proceeds to attack pinning the white queen on e5, white rook then takes black queen but now pins black bishop from taking queen in the next move or loses back file black rook, check. See what you think…

Using Hikaru as an example being like showing how Usain Bolt does to teach someone to walk.

Levy really out there making our little 700 hearts feel full saying our games are great ❤️🤣😍
