You Rock !!!!!!!! Gotham forever!!
i understood none of this, thanks anyways
WHAT?! I have NEVER even heard of this "checklist"! I'm such a n00b! You go a little fast for me (luckily YouTube allows me to throttle ya down a touch – but only to 0.75, cause 0.5 makes you VERY intoxicated ;0), but VERY full of helpful and interesting education.
Within the first 20 minutes of this video, your tips will undoubtedly vastly improve my games! I STILL make one-move blunders…
Thanks as always!
Pattern recognition is so huge. I remember seeing some test where they had a chess board setup and they were showing it for like 1 or 2 second for a GM and for a average Joe and then asked how many pieces and their positions they could remember. If the board was set so it was from an actual game or that it could be from a game the GM would remember like at least half of the positions of the pieces while the average Joe would remember maybe 1 or 2. And then they continued until they were able to get every piece correct and obviously GM were superior in that.
However, if the board was set up randomly in a such way that it wouldn't happen or even be possible to have such position in real game there was no difference between the GM and the average Joe. It's an interesting test which shows how big thing the patter recognition really is.
18:30 why not sac the queen on h8? its a forced mate?
after 3 min, i understood that
this is not my shit.
And this is why i will alway's suck at chess.
But what if you almost never see the moves? For some reason i still suck at this after months of practice.Maybe i should quit.
I'm a beginner but at 9:35 in the video why would you not play bishop d4 attacking the pawn with potential for getting the rook since the knight cant defend the pawn bc of our rook? Can someone please explain why this isn't the best move and why levy said what he did?
Getting back into chess, but "overthinking" takes time. When did use of clock come into practice? Hate it.
Thanks for this video
18:32 QH8 check bishop takes , rook takes with checkmate. Or am i just hallucinating?
I believe u underestimate low elo chess players I know everything u said and I am 600 elo player
Nice video!
15:27 what if the king plays d2 after Queen to f1?
👍
@28:57 – why would black not trade the bishops, knight takes bishop, rook takes knight. Doesn't that mean white would be up pieces? I am a beginner of course
This video enlighten me thank you
Me with a chess rating of 800:
another question,
WHEN To Calculate In Chess
when we use check list ???
such a great knowledge in just under 30 mins, keep up the good work man 🙂 thx for sharing 🙂
"for my 1000 homies, how to not hang a piece in one move."
HAHAHAHA stares in the mirror at myself
8:05 "at 670 there is no such thing as a Sicilian defense"
can anyone explain why?? I understand that sicilian defense is a complex opening but why shouldn't beginners try it? Then what are the best openings recommended for beginners?
I'm always looking for the opponent's best response one step ahead before I make my own move, and my rating is 120 😀
What if I just played the highest level bot for months?
Thanks a lot! I needed this.
GM's are really something else…
Levy, I've been a fan for a long long time. This is honestly your best video! (And I love them all)
9:20 Pretty sure he meant knight can't move (in case that also confused other peeps).
I like how Levy understands how beginner players think without ridiculing them.
this was totally helpful… actually, I can only checkmate with white… so, could you do a video on how to use black
On 6:14 how come Qh8 bxh8 then Rxh8 isn’t better bc it’s mate
Levy : Don't just calculate your moves, Calculate you're opponents moves too
Dumb Me : Who can't even Understand how to calculate my own moves :-S (´。_。`) (* ̄︿ ̄) (。_。)
I just understood it's not fun to play chess when you are an advanced player… cause you already calculated everything there is no surprise check or checkmate.
when they're saying these calculations it sounds like a dentist counting teeth. I guess the starting point for me is to learn all of the squares on the board playing both black and white first.
in advanced puzzle one could you go Qh8 Bxh8, Rxh8 Kg7, Bf6 Kg6, Rh1 f4, Rh5….I dont think mate is stoppable after that
Why say "get outta here" after teaching so good lol
Perfect
How does he make this arrows to appear?
Hikaru going mentally insane with calculation made my own head blow up
1:50 I would have gone Bxf3
Such cerebral

Been into chess since last year and I reached my first 1200 rapid yesterday :)) Not sure if I can continue improving, this game is so hard
Beginner? Shit, I've been so in to studying complex opening lines and other non beginner things that I get to where I forget basic checklist stuff. So yeah, this vid is helpful to me as a non-beginner.
im rated 600 in rapid and let me just say, after watching this video i made my opponent blunder his queen in the first 10 moves and won the game with 8 minutes remaining
best video u have done
9:10 is just hilarius hahaha
the moment you take 5 mins to make one move and the opponent premoves you know you’re toast
