Cant believe eric almost held a slightly better endgame against Magnus!
You might have beat him on zen mode I assume its difficult to know you're potential playing one of the best players of all time
in minute 16, couldnt you put the knight back at b4 and mantain the position??
You would have done so much better if you didn’t know who you were playing, I’m positive.
I thought you did very well.
If I may.. when you play a super GM, you seem to get in serious time trouble from early on, as if you are searching too hard for the best move. That leaves you no realistic chance during the end game. Anyway, I love your content. Thank you!
GG not easy playing with the time pressure.
Unlucky Eric, but a close run thing!
I definitely think Magnus was commenting on his own play, not yours. I only heard him respecting you, honestly, with how I interpreted it. Either way, I think you should be proud of your game–it's obviously not easy to play Magnus.
Great game
Ah the 60 second NF6 strikes again.
Playing queen down against Magnus. What kind of a person do that? No respect. U have serious issues with yourself.
Is there a link to Brahs stream so I can see both POVs
This is a pretty dishonest video title, unbefitting of you. We all know what YouTube and clickbait is like, but don't stoop.
nice trickery
Why do Magnus and Hikaru think they are gods? It’s a game of chess? You’re really not that special or ya wouldn’t be doing drama related YouTube videos to make money! Lol😂😂😂😂LMAO!!! No disrespect to most of the other players! Most are extremely courteous like Mr. Rosen here! 😊
Thank you for sharing you story with us, your grandchildren.
he didn't mean you were terrible. he meant it was terrible for him because he was (close to) almost losing in the middle there for a bit against an objectively much weaker player. I don't think I'm wrong about this either because Hikaru means the same thing when he says a game is terrible. He means he should have done better. And magnus and hiki are at similar levels. It's a compliment to you
I think he meant his own performance. We wasnt happy about it since you had the better position up until a certain point.
I have a friend who is a 26-2800 and when you watch chess streamers… it’s like everything going on in their head is what Magnus thinks without thinking… talking about openings and what the right move is.. Magnus is just playing and knowing the best moves, he knows how the game will end, it isn’t even close…. The difference in level is almost able to be down major pieces … My buddy would play 1800-2700 elo and see how much he can give up and still come back… I don’t think these games are ever close for Magnus. The games they seem close to Eric are games Magnus would say were ugly and bad and he wasn’t trying or giving his best. There is a large gap difference, if you win online chess once you’re not always the better player… sometimes players give up positions because it’s just so unfair in their favour
great game Eric
Well, you have to agree that 34 … Ng4 was "pretty terrible" (allowing Ba5+)
11:46 how is it not winning the knight?
Wing gambit, huh? I used to play that, as a teenager. ARound that time Kamran Shirazi was coming into the club every now and then – he was from Iran and this a different period in global diplomacy before the Shah of Iran came to NY for cancer treatment. Kamran had the reputation of being something of a madman tho very a strong IM. He sometimes would play 1. a4, 2. a5 3. Ra4 and 4. Rg4 or something equally wild. Likely Magnus would have bet him too, f it makes you feel any better.
Terrible from a Norwegian perspective
Really shows the difference between GM and Master. I think most people can get to IM level with enough studying and practice. Eric is great at calculating lines and has the knowledge, but once he's out of prep or positions he's seen it's tough. Gm brains are just built different, Magnus isnt just calculating lines, he's calculating dozens(more?) of lines. That's why you can watch Eric and sometimes catch something seemingly simple he doesnt see because your brain randomly took a line while he was calculating something else
Eric was so excited, he could feel his breathing.. i love zen mode whenever there is pressure to perform!!😅
3:10 listen to Eric taking that breath lol, me at 1300 takes the same one when playing on board in public
Very well played. I really enjoyed that game and your analysis
Love your content. There are FIDE ratings and Youtube ratings. The Youtube GOAT is Gotham and you fight with Hikaru and Nardoitsky for the No2 slot in terms of viewers per video. That makes you a Super YM (Youtube Master.) 🙂
Obviously biggest issue was time you put yourself in such a holeitwas goingto be hard to make anything happen in the end.
Eric, for the next 20 hours you spend in analysis, please spend 5 minutes per hour to improve your room rater score!
You're known lol "he might try stalemate"
Why you move Ke7 instead Kc7 on 39 move of first match? Then opponent cant turn pawn into the queen
Magnus plays such a wide variety of openings that I can't believe that he knows all that theory. His natural intuitions are his "theory."
Eric always down on the clock lol don't think I've ever seen him ahead on the clock in an end game
Yeah, he was referring to his play. I can't imagine how nervous you had to be playing him. Anytime I compete in anything and I'm ahead and upsetting a better opponent, it's hard not to let the pressure take over. Well done on this one!
"aw, I was trying to set a stalemate trap". Because that would have felt good, right?
Great job!
The line "Playing Rosen… might stalemate him" sounds to me like he holds you in high regard.
10:50 on move 18, I was sitting here thinking "why can't you just take the knight on d4?" But after looking, at the end of the line, Magnus can take the knight on b4, since the pawn is pinned to the rook on a8. Just thought that was interesting, in case someone else had the same thought I did.
Pretty terrible is better than ugly terrible
Is your heart-rate monitor broken, I've never seen it past 85 before?
For you it was the greatest day of your life
For Magnus it was Tuesday
You would of beat him if you didn't know it was him.
A story to tell your grand children…I love it. Thanks so much. I am surprised he is not more friendly to you.
No real comment on what Magnus said as he’s the only person that knows exactly what he meant. The game was okay but a lot of the game’s potential was spent far away from Magnus’ king. A look into why might be worth it. Thank you for this content 😊
Magnus calls everything terrible
you vs. carlsen always entertaining
We see Magnus we click 😅
