You can't compare the outcome of chess games to those of a coin flip. If you really think about it, if we are relying on the outcomes as though they were, the opponents you played in those games should have their games reviewed to insure they were not intentionally losing. If people want to be stupid, go with it. In games of skill, it is easier for someone to intentionally lose than to win. Meaning, if someone wants to lose they can make sure that happens 100% of the time, regardless of what their opponent does. While someone that wants to win, even if by cheating, can not guarantee their opponent will lose.
You can't find cheaters based on outcome alone. If someone started playing chess and won 40 games in a row, nobody would call them a cheater unless they looked at the games and found some information to validate that. Imagine though, instead, they found all of the opponents to be resigning or creating losing positions for themselves. If they found nothing unusual, aside from the streak, it would just be a streak. Anyone can look at the games in question, if they believe there is cheating involved they should be able to offer some evidence aside from the streak itself.
The math helps to explain things from more of a probability type perspective, if the outcomes were based solely on the relative probabilities at the time. You can't account for, what do the probabilities become if ChessGod99999's kitchen starts on fire? Or is on their 11th shot of vodka. The dynamic is always changing. You probably could argue that in an over the board tournament, where the environment is controlled, ample time controls, the players are being monitored to a degree, that you might find a more accurate correlation between rating and performance, but it would be impossible to define.
Someone should force kramnik to play gacha games. Especially games with below 1% rate, it would blow his mind.
The defense is just as ridiculous as the accusations.

IMO Kramnik is just bitter that no one talks about him anymore and now he is trying to make himself relevant and insert himself in the chess conversation. Before this when was the last time that anyone talked about Kramnik at all?
As a mathematician and a teacher here, I agree with you the fact that Kramnik is a 500 elo mathematician. and the fact that nearly every top players now recognize Hikaru which means some psychology of mind might be at play here. so suppose I'm playing against a random kid I don't even know even if it's a younger version of Pragg I would still be a lot more confident in winning against him than Hikaru, and that mindset could really influence the outcome of the games in some way. I do realize that those top players are trained for this but not everyone's perfect and some might be on tilt and bad days and my point stands.

Of course, cheating is real and an important issue in chess—just like performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports. We need modern methods to detect and discourage cheating. But that said, Hikaru is actually the last player I’d worry about. What else can he do other than refute accusations by pointing out logical flaws in Kramnik’s statistics. Perhaps best to simply deny and move on and continue to channel his best energy into elevating the game of chess for us.
Kramnik needs to fully understand Price’s law. It fully explains why Hikaru is not cheating.

According to Kramnik, any reports of people being hit by lightning is a lie. By his logic, because on an individual basis, the likelihood of one person being hit by lightning is so low, it is essentially impossible and as such, we should investigate further any claim of someone dying from this cause, as it must be a cover-up.
People are mad. Calling cheater best player of blitz just because he won lot of games. He was just in zone . Even i went from 1500 to 1700 in bullet few days ago even tho i have never been more then 1550 . And if i can have good days . For damn sure Hikaru obviously can too lol

I love statistics. I use them constantly for the games I play and consider myself a high level player in terms of how quickly and accurately I can estimate odds.
I would NEVER attempt to calculate the odds of someone cheating at chess. There are SO MANY factors you'd need to consider. This is really something you need to hire a professional for

Kramnik is the kinda guy who thinks that the last 2 doors in the Monty Hall problem both have a 33% chance to win and will spend every breath until his dying one defending it, despite it being proven to be incorrect. Statistics is a lot harder than some people think. Intuition breaks down quickly unless you've studied the scenarios thoroughly.
There's also the factor of winning on the board vs flagging.
Internet connection is another factor in the games.
Mouse speed is a factor.
And I mean aren't Magnus & Hikaru the guys whom we expect to play closest to engines? This is paranoia from Kramnik.
If Hikaru got caught cheating in an offline unrated fun sake chess game, the risk of him doing so is enormous. He'd lose everything he's built up. Too high of a risk Hikaru & Magnus & Fabi etc has, to do such things Kramnik is accusing Hikaru of.
