Correction. Prophylaxis is a Greek word all the way through. Pro exists in Latin, as in pros and cons, but it doesn't mean "before". It only has that meaning in Greek. So there is no Latin root in prophylaxis. The word existed way before Latin for developed.

Nigel Short faced the "Plough" back in 2015 against Vovk. It was a blitz game with plenty of blunders. White's h-pawn went all the way to h6.

Pro is not from Latin. It is from Greek as well. It exists in Latin, but since the word is Greek, the Pro in prophylactic if from a Greek origin.
Started playing the plow and I've now crossed 1000 elo! Hopefully I will get back to my original rating of 1500 soon
I'm new with chess games , and I win some , mostly lose , but one of my tactics is H4 and for me ,its powerful and some games I use it in both openings and endings , but I try not to use my Queen ….SO THE COW HAS SOMETHING TO USE, THE PLOW ! Lol…..Starting to enjoy the game , wish I had more time to play, and learn from my mistakes….Have fun !!!

Kinda cool how good moves eventually flow because of better positioning. Chess is absurd.
If Magnus Carlen starts playing like Bobby Fischer, with sacrifice spirit and bold unseen sequences, then Chess will become creative again. We are still waiting for the party of the century !

The pawn to h4 is the Despers opening also known as the Kadas opening. Magnus switched to his center pawns for his true opening. "The Plow" opening really?

The Thrilla in Manilla comes to mind even if the comparison isn't that good, with Carlsen doing all the punching and also delivering the knock-out. In terms of humiliation however, of an opponent technically on par, I'd like to Post-it nevertheless. Cramling's cow, Carlsen's plow. All modern theory :).
