One thing is for sure: with so many young players, this candidates will be wild and unpredictable (with maybe Caruana being the safest guess for a stable good performance). Maybe one of the indian players suddenly surprises us with a 2850-level performance and takes down Ding afterwards. You never know.

Why do people always expect something great from Hikaru while he himself is not showing any interest in professional chess lately? He said it obviously many times that he is now full timing content creation. That's his choice for his family, but people think chess is an Anime where their superhero wins at the end.

Hikaru has been through so much in the chess world that I would love for him to become world champion. What would make it more interesting would be if it went down to the wire and the decisive match was down to a minute. Then we would see Hikaru's bullet god skills at full play OTB.

According to the current form, Fabi will have a tough time in the tournament. But if he comes back with the old beast form, then no one is coming close to that standard. Altogether Magnus's prediction looks completely accurate based on experience, form, past performances and skill level.
